Agree with all the points above. For me it starts a couple of steps earlier though with squad management.

Easts and Melbourne have had the lion's share of success over the past decade because they have done most things correctly when it comes to managing.the players on and off the field. The credit that both clubs derserve but rarely get is their refusal to pay overs for anyone and their enforcement of players buying into their culture.

This this kind off attitude off field is what has lead to their success in defensive and attacking style on the field.

Easts are nothing without the Bondi Wall. Strengthen that first and the attack will come. Sorry gone abit off topic here.

I don't go with this theory. Every decade has one or two teams that dominate. The Dragons won 11 in a row in the mid 50's and 60's. Easts and Manly won a few in the mid 70's. The 80's were dominated by Parramatta and Canterbury. The 90's dominated by Canberra and Broncos. From 2000 and onwards, Roosters and Storm have dominated and so on. It has been happening since the beginning of the game. Some clubs just can't get of the rut they find themselves in. Some in the media just can't cope with certain clubs not performing, and try and blame the successful clubs for this when in fact, it is due to crap management, and poor retention and/or recruitment of players.

Dogs played quite well against the Storm-Premiers, scored some good tries.
Flanno made good passes.

Storm...Premiers in 2017.
We signed their champion half back, and were Premiers in 2018, 2019.
Said half back retired, they were Premiers again in 2020.

Don't be surprised if V'landys and co introduce a draft...they are the admin of change.
What club would bother developing players only to see them disappear in a draft?

I'm surprised nobody has pointed out that the crap teams are suffering because they're not being given as many leg-up penalties now. Sure, six again calls can be helpful, but they don't compare to 50 metres of easy ground (and the six tackles) that penalties offered. It's so much harder to score points if you're a crap team and you have to earn every metre. In the good ol' days, a team at the bottom of the comp often got four or five more penalties than their higher placed opponent - at least they did when they played the Roosters.

I'm sure they'll work this out soon enough and introduce another rule change. Maybe make Top 4 teams wear weighted saddles?

I remember when Manly were scary too..Must say I love watching Brisbane, Manly and Canterbury be mediocre. We've had our ordinary years too so now it's their turn. Lesson in humility for some of their fans.

Its all the Roosters and Strom's fault for cheating the cap. 16 out of 21 last GF appearances by either side according to Kent Paul. Like deadset, seeing some of the pea heart performances last night from some broncos players really gets me steamed up about shit like this.

The price of a well run club and ensuing success has people off the deep end.

Jealousy rears it's ugly head in all walks of life doesn't it? Too many from the generation of 'everyone gets a trophy' - no you bloody well do not!

Very rarely does someone dare to whinge to me about the Roosters these days but when they do, I just say "So you are jealous because they know how to manage money, budget carefully and don't pay overs for players?" The fact also that the annual players' survey always reveals us as the team other players from other clubs want to come to the most usually shuts them up.

It is a combination of factors such as poor cattle, bad contract and salary cap management, ineffective club budgeting, lack of planning, no or little player development (Gus raised this on 100% Footy the other week) and club disharmony and turbulence (as Gibbo said, the front office needs to be right). While I am all for expansion, I am not convinced the timing is right now.
