As part of the NRL rules, clubs can apply for salary cap relief if a player is medically unable to continue playing, except when in the final year of their contract.

My understanding is Morgans salary for this season will be included in the cap but subsequent years (2022 and 2023 ) wont be since medical retirement has been approved under PCR Rule 86 (Medical Termination) - Morgan has a contract till 2023 - signed a 5 mill 5 year deal for 2019 to 2023

Unless they do an Inglis that is - a watch this space one though as you never know what the NRL will do - have some special compassion rule to help the Cows out since their on field performances are not great to say the least.

mmm they will have a million to spend for chasing tatts all (Reynolds) that will make the vermin souffs supporters worried.

I can't find the actual wording for the PCR Rule 86 (Medical Termination) only mentioned in articles

as much as i'm gutted about jake being forced out, at least he's done everything and played more than 250 games.
michael morgan might feel like he had a bit more to prove. had to retire younger and played 80 less games. on his day he was one of the best players in the comp and probably was the best player in the comp in 2017. plus his run and pass to set up a try to force the 15 gf to extra time was better than latrell's 19 gf pass.

Now that the game is getting so many cases of concussion, can we perhaps go back to allowing shoulder charges and actual hard tackling, since clearly outlawing these tackles has made no difference to the number of concussions? Can we agree that it was all a bag of bullshiit designed to make the game family friendly in case kiddies decided to stop playing the game else they get hurt? I do wonder what all this concussion hysteria is going to do to participation rates in schools. Maybe in 5 or 10 years we'll know. Maybe we won't even have a game and then the NRL can be happy - everyone is safe and healthy and no one will be concussed or suffer memory loss and we can all sit back and play NRL on our xbox and remember the bad old days when people actually risked their precious health for sport. What crazy kids we were!
