Walker didn't overplay his hand. Eased himself into first grade and just did enough for what the team needed. He will bring more each week. The guy sounds like he has so much maturity for just a kid.
I was actually impressed with his defence.

I was also impressed with his defence last night, some great one on one tackles on much bigger guys..

Nothing seemed to faze him out there, I look forward to watching him develop!

I don't get the Flanagan bashing. He's not here anymore and it wasn't his decision. For a player that was leading the point scoring ladder up until the last game of the season against souths, he did alright and considering that he had to do all of that with long term injuries to Radley, Verrills, Cordner, Friend, Keary, Angus, Toupo, and on and on. But here was the hardest part for him. He came to the club as a 21yo late in the pre-season with the mission to replace Cooper Cronk at half and Latrell as the kicker. He kicked alright but who could ever replace Cooper Cronk? Sam Walker? He played great last night but he isn't Cronks replacement just yet.

Flanagan is not the problem this year and comparing him this year to what he produced last year is unfair because there is no one at the dogs that is currently playing at NRL standard, even their recruits Allen and Cotric look like reserve grade at the moment. Blame the dogs situation for Flanagans and other players form.

Walker stepped up big time and got better as he played himself into the game. Not how I wanna see us play every week but we had the right attitude and got the job done.

Butcher wouldn’t have scored his try if Walker didn’t get the pass from Lussick at dummy half absolutely perfect. He nailed it. Brought Walker onto the ball and gave what all playmakers need, time and space.

Plus passing wasn’t one of Friends strong suits

Sam Walker had a good solid debut with some great flashes. The reason I'm not going to hype the kid is because if these youngers are hyped then debut and not much happens then we start hearing he didn't live up to the expectations, is he ready......and rabbit on .

We can be well pleased with his 1st game man. Personally I've never been a fan of Lammy but Walker has me feeling good. I don't give a toss if we dont get to the GF because shit happened and we gotta deal with it. But look at Newcastle, them and us wont be the last to cop heavy injury and maybe the season evens out.

If you look at the try he set up for Butcher, he picks it up at first receiver and just drifts across the field which is when he looks his most comfortable and free. Less so when he's receiving the play as 2nd or 3rd receiver so it will be interesting to see how that partnership plays out over the next few weeks.

When they get it right it is going to be extremely hard for opposition sides to defend. You can sit Radley on a short side with Lam and Walker on an open side with Teddy, good luck to the fullback of the opposing side trying to predict which way the play will go.

Zero try assists in the finals in a gun team as a half isn't good enough. Pretty much never went to the line to put the defence in two minds and to take some pressure off Keary. He was a bust and the club obviously thought so also

That didn't lose those games though.

Defensive lapses was the reason for those losses- 28 unanswered points vs Penrith - 10-0 up to be 28-10 down - scored 18 to 1 after that to lose 29-28- a few more minutes who knows

Canberra 16-0 down after 20- scored 18 to 6 after that to lose 22-18- a couple of almost tries too bundled into touch just short- just couldn't get one more try.

So one should be able to see from above where these games were lost for the Chooks.
