Let’s not forget this poor bloke also suffered one of the most severe injuries in recent years too in fact I’m pretty sure it was even life threatening?? He played on with a collapsed lung in a game for us in 2014. Will be very sad to see our skipper go without a doubt a club legend and like many have said he has consistently been a quality hooker for us. Love ya nug

if it is true that friend has suffered 20 concussions in his nrl career, which is a lot more then i thought, maybe he should be forced to hang up the boots. surely anything over 10 concussions in a career is getting towards the danger zone.

im not sure i fully understand what thr long term consequences are, but the damage is done by repeated concussions ? if this is true, friend can hold his head high, and retire. great servant, club man and amongst the toughest nrl players of the last decade, along the likes of gal.

Father Time is calling Friendy, It's fairly obvious he is gonna retire..he has achieved it all in the game and more...no point going on after 20 concussions...it's not like we are going to make him leave a premiership winner this yr.....time for Generation next....time to develop Sam V and see if Lussick is the real deal...also should trial Lam as a hooker.

Chooks have 30 players listed with Ben Marschke added i assumed as dispensation so 21 players could be named as a result of the injury toll- he did play though.

So when players come back will he then drop off the 30 leaving 1 spot open or stay on the list?.

Who if anyone has come into the 30 for Cords as i was assuming it was Tukupa-Ke Hau Tapuha but nothing has been announced

I assume Ben Marschke it on a part time contract and the Roosters had to get approval for his selection and Tukupa-Ke Hau Tapuha is on a development contract.
I would say Marsche will be selected until Keighran is fit.

If he hadn't played Origin I'd say he'd be playing on but he's achieved everything he could want in league now and if he's lucky he's got 50+ years to live so why risk shuffling around on a walking frame with a frontal lobe that's goo.

The injury filled his lungs with blood and then he got sepsis or something didn't he? (And still somehow recovered).

He's got nothing left to prove if he does decide to retire. If he plays on then he's doing so because he wants to do it for our club and thinks he can give us a good shot at winning a premiership.

IMO this bloke does it for a lot of us because we've seen him grow and know how it coulda gone if he hadn't pulled his head in. He's had his share of issues off the field but has always taken his lessons to heart and put in 100% on the field. Always seemed like an odd choice for captain given his past but players respect him and he's captained us to B2B premierships so go figure.

I think we are OK for hookers.

                  Any five eighths out there?

Plenty of 5/8s in the lower grades with 1st grade experience, not a single one is better than what we already have.

Unless you would enjoy seeing the likes of Lach Lewis, Matt Frawley, Jaeman Salmon in our colours.

We are best to promote from within and have faith in Hutch, Keighran, Lam and even Volkman

Volkman is definitely a future gun but still at least a year away. The others are no more than fill-ins.

Keighran was bought as cover for 2nd row. We are very thin in this area.

Agree, we don't lack talent in the halves. With no Keary its more a question of some inexperience now esp with an 18 year old at 7. It will be interesting to see what Robbo does.

                          I wouldn't say we're thin; we're just farking unlucky.

We're missing our 1st and 2nd choice hookers, our starting halves, and Keighran who imo would be our first in line 5/8 replacement.

You can only have so much depth. Ours is fine in the key spine positions. We're just in the midst of a dreadful run of luck.

I, for one, hope Jake plays on. If lawyers and old women didn't run the game, he wouldn't even be contemplating retirement.

He should take note of what the specialist tell him - it's something he will need to take stock of in years to come as well as all those concussions will have an affect on his health sad to say.

All the best Jake if you decide to pull up stumps. You have been a fine servant of our great club for 13 years. Thank you for the memories pal.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
