There's a guy called the Novocastrian coming up with the SOS after the article about our great win against the Tigers. I tried for the first time in a few years to reply, but I doubt they will publish - they seem to prefer lies. Maybe some others would like to try? Not only does he use the tired old 'sombrero', he's another one who just doesn't get that a well-run club shouldn't be dragged down to the level of the badly-run ones. (And you'd think the guy would be grateful for Newcastle having signed Pearce, Kenny-Dowell & co.) I wouldn't care, but the seed for this rubbish thinking has been planted by some in the media lately, and there's plenty of dim-witted rugby league supporters out there that take things like this up and run with it and put pressure on 'I will do what the fans tell me to do' V'landys.
Why would you bother? Your fact based post is not going to make any dent in his opinion. Ppl like him will never change their mind.

To be honest, when you read 2 ppl having a slagging match online, when have you ever seen one person change their mind and write "You know what.....now that I have heard what you say....you are right".

    Never.

I dont know if you can dislike someone when you dont know them. I have to be have some sort of a relationship with someone to be able to judge if I like them or not.
I guess that was sort of my point, that a player is portrayed a particular way on the field and in the media and you base an opinion on that. But in reality they could be polar opposite. I have experienced that, more a player I was not a fan of, that I had dealings with post game and were great people.
Then there is way they act with fans is not always a good representation of who they are too. Some are very guarded simply because they have so many people pissing in their pocket

          People hate success.
Ten years ago my friends felt sorry for Easts as we were a basket case, those same friends hate Easts now.
Melbourne are hated as they have been successful forever.
I know people who are feeling sorry for the Broncos these days.
My brothers team Manly were the most hated team since we both started following footy in the early 70's but now people for sorry for them.

Eventually we will miss out on being in the finals every year and people will loss that hate towards us, unfortunately every team goes through golden periods and being cellar dwellers.

Nah dude, 10 years ago we were coming off making the 2010 GF although 2011 was poor. Two years later we were Premiers. No basket cases here my friend.

Fair point. IMO people wanna see the silverware ahared around a bit.

Dunno why they'd hate us as a priority though. If anything I reckon we should be thanked as we're a disruptive force that has prevented the Drizz from winning just about every premiership after the last year it was decided that they cheated the cap.

Sure we buy players from all over but Melbourne quite literally use Brisbane feeders. IMO it's no coincidence that Brisbane have been shyte as The Melbourne Project TM gets first dibs on any promising players from their systems.

Just imagine if one of Smith, Slater or Cronk had played for Brisbane (or Munster, Folau, GI...etc, noting that GI couldn't because of his unresolved legal situation). If that had happened and Yow Yeh hadn't been injured, the last decade coulda been hugely different IMO.

Agreed. Loved Fletch when he was playing but he is pretty much a has been clown today. Can be quite good for a giggle but nothing more than a TV jester these days.

The daft part is that I reckon Fletch is playing the fool whereas Finch is a fool!
