  • SMH comments section loves Rooster haters

I gave up trying to comment on articles in the SMH ages ago. It would be the same old story. Some guy would make ridiculous Rooster-hating comments, I'd counter with actual facts, and the SMH would never publish (and I never broke any rules). Has anyone else struck this?

There's a guy called the Novocastrian coming up with the SOS after the article about our great win against the Tigers. I tried for the first time in a few years to reply, but I doubt they will publish - they seem to prefer lies. Maybe some others would like to try? Not only does he use the tired old 'sombrero', he's another one who just doesn't get that a well-run club shouldn't be dragged down to the level of the badly-run ones. (And you'd think the guy would be grateful for Newcastle having signed Pearce, Kenny-Dowell & co.) I wouldn't care, but the seed for this rubbish thinking has been planted by some in the media lately, and there's plenty of dim-witted rugby league supporters out there that take things like this up and run with it and put pressure on 'I will do what the fans tell me to do' V'landys.

As said above, nobody hates the sh!t clubs. The only thing that really bugs me though, is that one of the perpetuators of the sombrero thing is Bryan Fletcher ..looking for cheap laughs at the clubs expense. You would think a member of the alma mater wouldnt throw his team under the bus just for cheap laughs, but I guess he'll do anything for 'stardom'. I mean Freddy always looks for laughs on tv, but have never heard him taking cheap shots at either of his former clubs.

I actually mentioned that to him in the street one day and suggested he should maybe do something about it because people are taking it seriously. He acknowledged it had ''become a thing", but he's mostly there for laughs, so he's not going to get too many laughs defending the Roosters (although when he does, it gets a laugh!).

BTW, the SMH made a liar out of me and printed my comment. D'oh!

Another clown, Brett Finch, does the same.

I'm not sure why anyone would care about the ignorant comments of a few people with nothing better to do than write comments on SMH articles. Embrace the hate and enjoy the jealousy.

I am amused when people take it all too seriously. I love seeing some teams lose especially Souffs and Brisbane and I dislike many players. But I learnt a long time ago that its all make believe (not the games themselves) and its so much more about taking than giving.
Some of the players you hate are actually tremendous humans and some of those you love and admire as nothing more than assholes.

I get excited when the Roosters win, I am a member and I consider myself a reasonable supporter but its not my whole life and sometimes I do feel for people that have nothing else.

I think Freddy still owns a poker machine at the club so technically he is still getting paid by the club so he's not gonna be making jokes about it.

                        Why?
I dont know if you can dislike someone when you dont know them. I have to be have some sort of a relationship with someone to be able to judge if I like them or not.
