This has bugged me for a long time and I would LOVE to hear everyone's thoughts... Why is it every time the next Immortal is spoken about names like Thurston, Lockyer, Cronk, Slater and Inglis get spoken about but never Fittler? i just don't understand why Freddy has seemed to fade into the background of the best players ever... it annoys me to no end.. is it because his personality on TV has taken away from what he did on the field? i hate that he gets passed over by guys who came after him, Freddy is one of the best players to play the game and he deserves to be ahead of most of the guys mentioned above.

I would still leave that mantle with either Lewis or Thurston. I don't think A. Johns even comes close to these two. A drug cheat at best.Last edited by rented tracksuit; 03-18-2021, 02:01 PM.FVCK CANCER

The thing that stands out for me about Freddie that gets overlooked, is that he played some of his best years during the time of unlimited or many more interchanges than most the others mentioned besides John’s!
Yet he stood up week in and out against continually fresh rotating defenses or runners who’s job was to run at Freddie.
Im not sure Lockyer or Thurston could have handled that!
It was the bigger playmakers that stood out in that era which included the likes of Barrett
Imagine Freddie playing for the Broncos during the 2000 GF with that pack and we had Ikin or whoever.... score would have been 1000 to nil!!!
Having said this, Thurston, Lockyer, John’s and Freddy would kill it in today’s game!!!

Imagine Freddy getting that headbut in the GF in 2021. He would be straight off with the current protocols and we would have been done.
