  • Cronk training with Storm

Melbourne posted on there Instagram that coops was helping run the training session for the storm... I thought Cooper was a life time member and was part of the training team with us? A bit confused and I may be looking too much into it but I’m not sure I like the idea of someone who would know all our strategies training a team who is a legit threat for the title.

yes I know guys like Andrew John’s bounce around from team to team but Cronk being honoured a life membership makes this kinda strange to me and I guess uncle nicks offer to be with us full time fell apart due to COVID? Shame if wears sharing his services.

Yeah interesting right... particularly when they've seemingly lost Cam Smith? Wonder if Smith being gone changes the story though?

Meh I know he'd be professional and wouldn't share anything other than 'this is my personal experience as Cooper Cronk... check YouTube... I won multiple grand finals, Origins and internationals with this stuff' (I think they're all quite collegiate about not sharing any secrets).

Raises the question though right. I thought he'd settled down in Sydney and was commenting on his experience seeing Suaalii train just the other day.

    Edit:
Looks like he did some of this with Munster in 2020 as well so it could just be a continuation? (see https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl...4bfdd413435da2)

    > “While the Roosters is more of a football sort of relationship, the Storm are sort of corporate and ambassador role. I’ve got strong relationships with some of their players.”
    ...
    > He’s a professional, he’s not going to go around telling other teams or other people what we’ve been working on, and vice versa with him and the Roosters,” Munster said.

My guess would be that he lets people run their ideas by him and will run a few basic drills with the Drizzle but people are professional enough not to ask stupid questions and he wouldn't give such answers anyway. Still interesting though... right? I mean I wouldn't expect Fitzy to be giving any advice to the Dragons (for example).

cronk's always going to have history with the storm. we were lucky to have him at all.
but in the photo he's actually telling munster how well he played in the 18 gf

I have no real issue with this.
I consider him a Storm player who happened to spend a couple of seasons with us.
Not the first super star to play at other clubs and being considered a Easts legend.
Cronk, Freddy, SBW, JHW just to name a few
I been supporting us since the mid 70's and can remember players all the way back then like Bozo and many more since coming from elsewhere.

right, I don't really have much of an issue with it in theory I just am a bit confused due to the whole life time membership thing... uncle nick made a huge deal about making him a life time member and then announcing he would be part of our training team.. so I guess I ASSUMED he was a Rooster 100% now... if it wasnt for all that then this wouldnt shock me at all.

I assumed being given Life Time Membership by nick was reserved for players/people who bleed red white and blue....guess it isnt.

He is a consultant, I can't see any problem with him working with other teams. this guy sets the most professional and ethical standards for himself, no way will he change that.

He shouldn’t have gotten life membership. Nothing to do with this thread’s theme or anything, I just think that two seasons is not enough.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Yeah I agree with this and thats honestly the only reason this rubs me the wrong way... he was given his membership before Fitzy ffs lol... if it wasnt for the life membership I wouldnt really care tbh... its just strange seeing "Life Time Roosters Member Cronk" running around in Storm coloured socks hahaha

while he did contribute greatly to 2 premierships to be given life memberships is a bit over the top

Fitzy is now a Life Member; but will likely be a head coach of another NRL club fairly soon.

I have zero issue with that. Nor do I with Cronk.

That is true but I feel like Fitzy wont have much of a choice sadly... We all know that he could have left a few years ago but has stuck with Easts.... and if he could have the head coach job with us he would take less money to do it... its a different situation imo but i get your point.

He’s been made a life member of both the Storms & us.

He is worthy of life membership in my regard. Play on
                              ..it’ll be interesting to see
