Still no hints about who the Roosters will sign as a temporary replacement for Boyd? I think the rule is that the $350,000 cap concession needs to be spent on an extra player of comparable experience. It can't just go into the coffers and be used to re-sign an existing player.
Clearly, the Roosters have someone in mind or they wouldn't have applied to the NRL. This was in today's paper, but I'm not sure this guy fits the profile:
COWBOYS FACE BATTLE TO KEEP 124KG BEAST
The North Queensland Cowboys are facing a fight to retain the latest rookie forward set to make a name for himself from the North Island of New Zealand.
Wiremu Greig, 21, made his debut for the Maori All Stars last weekend and has caught the eye of talent scouts from rival clubs Melbourne Storm, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta and St George Illawarra.
A 124kg front-rower, Greig has quickly established a reputation as an emerging hard nut among some of the Cowboys most senior NRL forwards.
