  • Great to see Suuali get straight into the action with 2 tries. He’s made for 1st grade. I would bring him in gradually.

      • What do we think of Brad Abbey?
        Is he worth perusing?
How do we think Keighran went?

Abbey is on a train and play contract according to the commentators, he certainly looked classy, they said he played for canberra before, anyone know what happened? He looks very good.

I think he’s been given the nod to be the new forward leader when JWH retires.

This is his history that i could find

Played for the Warriors in their NYC teams in 2014 and 2015 before signing a 3 year deal with the Dogs

In 2016 played reggies for the Dogs and also Played for the Junior Kiwis against the Junior Kangaroos.

In 2017 played 4 NRL games for the Dogs.

In 2018 signed a 2 year deal with the Raiders in a player swap with Clay Priest and played 9 NRL games replacing the Suspended Jack Wighton ( off field incident) .

In 2019 played reggies for Canberra's feeder side Mounties and did his ACL and was released by the Raiders at the end of 2019 .

In 2020 train and trial contract Wests Tigers but not signed - signed a minor contract with Wests Magpies WT Reggies team -didn't play as comp suspended - was still undertaking rehab for the ACL

2021 -train and trial deal with the Chooks.

              Abbey is 24

walker,Fifita, collins and Angus were standouts, but raiders rested everybody for the entire second half, the biggest thing watching it live was that if hutch is in the starting halves in any match, we will be in trouble.
Why walker wouldn’t start over hutch or lam would have me scratching my head.

Hard to tell with Keighran... his minutes were limited and the 2nd half competition was very weak but he seemed to get the job done.

Lam seems to be the fastest right now though, with Walker quickly catching him? Both of them transition between stuff without a pause in the middle. IMO while that's partly learned, those neuromuscular pathways are genetic... you can either do it or you can't. Ripe in my mind is Walker setting up a try through his passing (quality cut-out pass) and then already being in position to score it himself. Lam catches and kicks in the same motion, which also led to a try I think.

Lam looks like he has dropped a few kgs, and it seems to have helped his speed, I thought he went well. They all have ability, just comes down to how they will handle clutch situations, finish off games, maintain composure under pressure. Extra fitness will help with those situations, plus repetitive simulation training, plus self belief gained by experience. Imagine being Lam or Walker right now, they both have the opportunity of a lifetime, to be a half in a great team like the Roosters, with Cronk as a mentor, and stars like Teddy and Keary to play with.

The biggest factor in making it & staying in the FG side for the 2 of them is defence, doesn’t matter how good they are with the ball if Robbo & co don’t see 100% commitment in defense then they won’t be in the side.

                      • good hit out and no injuries. collins and crichton stand outs. suaalii and walker look like they won't disappoint. lam was solid and i'd start with him - after a season of not playing at all a few games of reserves won't hurt walker but he might be just about ready now.

                        • Big Lindsay running right over the top of poster boy Josh Hodgson was a sight to behold.
Looking forward to Lindsay doing the same thing to others

                          • Collins looked really eager to impress. It was great to see. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets a few games in the starting side this season.

Yeah you could almost push SST to #13 if Radley's still out?

                              • will be interesting to see how re rotate the forwards. collins is pretty quick for a prop and maybe coming off the bench v tiring defence is good for him, letting jwh and tauks to sort them out to begin with. the other good thing out of the trial was suluka-fifita - good enough to have his own 3 letter nickname - dsf.
