I think it will Lam at 7 and Keary at 6 to start with although this could well be reversed - Keary hasn't a big kicking game and i dare say neither does Lam so that needs to be improved on Friend may need to do more kicking as well- Goal Kicking may come into the equation as outside SST any other kickers are unproven at NRL level.
Those in the know are predicting the Chooks halves pairing in a few years time could be will be Walker 1/2 and Volkman 5/8- many rate Volkman a better player than Walker is at the same age. I did notice that Volkman came back to training with the first cohort of players returning to training- see below can run / score/set up tries and tackles pretty good as well-
That kid is a real athlete by the look of him salvo, I've never heard of him before. He looks very strong , low centre of gravity and can step off either foot. Great talking technique as well.
Super impressed with that clip of him.
[QUOTE=Bansai Pipeline; Keighran looks quick, that's for sure.
Reckon Widdop would be the goods.
I saw a vague report on Widdop's availability but if he is under consideration he would fit the experience bill that is missing with some others of the possibles. The downside is that he is used to playing with losers. Then again that could be a positive once the man whisperer gets on the job.
Volkman looks like what he is - a junior prodigy - wow, that bat on - but as in the cases of so many others of the super talented at that level, can he produce in the NRL? Some years ago the Roosters bought a kid, Lewis (can't recall the first name - was it Josh?) from the Tigers. He had been a standout for the Tiges in a lower grade GF which I think the Roosters won and he was maybe the best junior half I had ever seen when playing for Leichhardt Wanderers. Bought on O'Sullivan's watch to boot and he knew his oats. I think that he played a couple of NRL games, was shopped to the Titans and sank without trace. Having said that fingers crossed for Volkman - the bat on was magic!

He looks the part and i get hes only young and untested but god some of theses young blokes have some skill at a early age.
Agree on all the above comments about having to be cautious with young blokes who look great at junior level and it transferring to first grade level.
I was just impressed with his athleticism from those clips.
Somethings not right with Widdop.
He bailed on Saints to go back to the UK for ‘family’ reasons and now wants back for the same reasons. Plus he’s been passed by a number of clubs despite his half price offering.

Josh Lewis played a dozen or so games 2006/7 - was released mid year 07 and went to the Titans - 13 games - One never knows if a youngster will go all the way in the NRL - Volkman has the RTS look about him though with that sidestep.

The Skeez I reckon you're right, and I think he was just desperate to get out of the Dragons. It was like Groundhog Day over there. Always quick out of the gates, leading the competition in March/April then fell in a heap. Widdop, for his part, mostly ran sideways, taking space off his outside men before kicking on the 3rd tackle. He's a big no for me. Massively over-rated.

2006 eh? Couldn't have been an O'Sullivan tip. But you're right of course and Volkman does have a lot going for him by the looks. Lewis (whom I use just as an example of the limits of talent) was kicking game wizard when on. Didn't show up in first grade unforch.
Someone mentioned Centres earlier and I see Jarrod's case is a no result. The DDP has to drop it now, no jury's gonna deprive a man of his freedom on the evidence. Could be a reaching out situation at bargain basement? No one else will touch him but we are the rehab whisperers with a history of doing good.

Pass on Hayne, I would rather us play smith or JS and develop them.. interesting to hear union have spat the dummy and aren’t interested in selecting him next year for the sevens, all the better for us.

I remember a game against Newcastle up in Gosford I think where Josh Lewis made that...made Andrew Johns looks ordinary. Then John thumped him in back play and he went off.
Surely Keary / Lam as this pair has game experience.
I didn’t mind Lam this year, it will be interesting to see how he grows with another pre season and a full time run on halves spot.
