Keighran will be there. He could be the buy of the year. Lam won’t get a look in. This guy is better than most of you think. He is also a very good goal kicker.

How can you know this Shag? Most of us don't think anything about him coz we've never heard of him. He's a lucky dipper, an experiment really, since he has not held a regular NRL spot and the Chooks have entertained so many of those in the past only to see the real goers come out the ranks. No complaints though, Robbo has the credentials and No. 7 replacement is a long painstaking process that Melbourne also went through post Cronk. They've settled on Hughes who looks pretty good and has helped them back to pre eminence but it's a position that is ideally the brain of the team and there's no quick fix. Lam got big wraps after the World Cup but the NRL is another thing entirely. I wouldn't expect to see Keighran start early in the piece, depends on trials/training I guess.

Keighran has been bought as a utility to replace Maubs, he's played one first grade game at 5/8. People seem to be seriously over hyping this signing.
I think Sam Walker will be given a big chance through the trials to show something and if he can handle the physicality and speed of those trials then he will get first crack.

Could Keary shift to organising full time? It might reduce the likelihood of head injuries (or make him a bigger target).
With Rads and Keary moving the ball around we could also carry a young player.
Keary is not an organiser and Teddy is not an organiser, that was the plan last year while Kyle stood there and watched(not his fault).
Lam is not an organiser. I don't know about Keighran, he has played 7 and would be our best bet to start with.
Sam Walker is definitely an organiser and a traditional No. 7.

I think the club sees Sam Walker as our long-term half. Quite whether he gets first shot at it this year might depend on how much he wants the defensive contact. He will see plenty of Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Viliame Kikau etc if he is selected. I don't envy that! Therefore, perhaps Lam gets first shot since he is more physically mature and looks stronger - he should be better equipped to handle the defensive side of the game?

It happens, look at the "discovery" of so many rejects in Melbourne, Schizenhausen/ JAC for example. Keighran looks like a young Aubbo at centre.
I’d look at Melbs 7, Jah Hughes as the perfect example for Keighran. Hughes came through as a fullback who once played for us and then bounced around clubs and found the structure that so many do in Melb and went on to guide them to a premiership.
From what I’ve seen, he is a good runner of the ball. If he can engage the inside defence and free up our outside backs, we’re a good chance of winning.
..it’ll be interesting to see

I think it will Lam at 7 and Keary at 6 to start with although this could well be reversed - Keary hasn't a big kicking game and i dare say neither does Lam so that needs to be improved on Friend may need to do more kicking as well- Goal Kicking may come into the equation as outside SST any other kickers are unproven at NRL level.
Those in the know are predicting the Chooks halves pairing in a few years time could be will be Walker 1/2 and Volkman 5/8- many rate Volkman a better player than Walker is at the same age. I did notice that Volkman came back to training with the first cohort of players returning to training- see below can run / score/set up tries and tackles pretty good as well-

He may be a good signing but he is there for depth.
