The model that Robbo needs to take note of.
When they win the comp, their players will be targeted by rival clubs .
It’s a chance for us to gain the ascendancy again
Yes someone needs to tell Robbo we should follow ‘the model’ of strong, big, powerful and fast cause he wouldn’t know this.

Smith is an absolute farking legend. Not making it all about him by announcing his retirement is a class move. The press are not in the same class as this guy. It's all about the team for him. I have called him a grub over the years, but on reflection he is the best player ever to lace up a boot. That tackle on Cotric was the stuff of legends, he tracked the ball from 60 metres out, and stopped a try on the line. he is 37 for farks sake. He is so far ahead of the next best it is ridiculous.

Did you last the whole 2min 15secs? I know I didn't. Seeing this prick hurting was just too much stimulation.

I'll be out and about in the Berra today with my Back to Back T on = more hurtin for Faider fans.

        Chook.

Dead set legend of the game , all class!
He could keep playing no problem and I hope he does but last night suggests otherwise.

By pretending to not make it about himself, he actually is.
sitting there watching him suck on an icy pole and fidget around was cringeworthy.

but, he is the first player I’d pick if I was making a list for greatest team of all time, or building a team around.

would love it if he spent a season with titans next year.

Agree about the legendary stuff but I think that by not announcing his intentions he has created more publicity for himself. There is this constant speculation about will he or won’t he. He could have put this to bed already.

On a personal note I have met Smith twice and I think he is an absolute gentleman.

Think the week's break with this stupid 6-again rule especially made a difference. Seen many times in the past a team that's had a week's break in the finals run all over the opposition in the first half.

Having said that, so glad to see the snotty green CANBERRA COMPLAINERS tossed out of the finals! (BTW they got 6 penalties to Melbourne's 1 last night!) Hope it can be done to the other slimy green team tonight!

That was the weather's fault. Our team should've won that year but weren't great on a wet track.

You mean to say he's a better guy than Sticky?

Sticky is a ciggy butt brain. He's always on edge and has a wad of nicotine gum in his mouth that he's chewing away at. Voice sounds like he smokes 30 packs a day. He's been driven by a sleepless sense of anger and injustice for 12 months. As much as I hate Smith (he's definitely a grub who's trying to milk as much outta retirement as possible... woulda retired in 2018 if he'd won), he's got way more class than Sticky + Skeletor.

Easy when the comp's rigged in your favour every year, of course. IMO most of the hatred comes from the fact:
                      - The Storm are grubs. He's 100% the face of 'dangerous contact' over a sustained period of time leading to McKinnon being in a wheelchair. He's okay using that sorta tactic and 100% argued the ref's penalty while a guy was on the ground paralysed + convulsing.
                      - The first decade of his career involved playing for a club that systematically cheated the cap. This was a MASSIVE launchpad for the club and anybody whose reputation centres around being 'successful' and 'consistent' over that period. He's no slouch but a bit like Lance Armstrong... I feel like he's an average pro athlete made amazing on paper by systematic cheating.
                      - The above period robbed multiple clubs of premierships and basically rubbed out a decade. Starting to get why people hate him? He royally farked the comp for a decade of NRL history. Sure he didn't orchestrate it all but IMO they all woulda smugly known that the payments coming in were a little too 'smart'. Nobody thought to ask 'hey why does 1/2 of my pay come from the Melbourne Storm's payroll account then the other 1/2 comes from all these other accounts... what are these accounts?' Mark my word they're all paid enough to have their own independent tax accountants who woulda privately told them 'this is unusual... I'd ask them to explain because no income tax or super is being paid on it + it's odd to use all these different accounts... ask 'em to pay it all through Melbourne Storm's payroll for sure because it's stupidly complex and suggests something's up!!!'
                      - He now has records that are comparable to unbeaten East German records. Maybe the East German athletes didn't plan the systematic cheating but they benefited from it. In years to come people will watch replays and be like 'LOL right so there was this random captain of a now defunct Melbourne club that cheated the cap and despite having no agility or excitement about his game, he racked up some mad stats that nobody will ever beat... that's so stupid...'
                      - He's not actually all that successful. 2 Premierships from 17 top-8 finishes. One of his biggest losses was a 40-0 grand final loss while $1.5 million over the cap (i.e. the QLD Origin team lost to Manly).
                      - EASTS are the most successful team over Cam's lifetime and there's just sooo much more depth to how we've done it! IMO him being 'amazing' takes away from everything we've achieved... all our stars have just ridden off into the sunset with very little applause from the greater NRL community.

How bad were the Raiders? And how the hell did we let them jump out to a 16 nil lead?

We must have been running on fumes in the finals. Hardly surprising given the long run we've been on plus the massive injury toll throughout the year.

Shows you how far off the mark we were this finals series..I think the score flattered us in both games.

One positive is we don't have to travel to the WCC this year fark that makes it a long season

Yep that's my only memory of it... us rolling around in the mud, going nowhere instead of playing the expansive footy we'd played all season.

Not their fault that the weather advantaged them and I hope they comprehensively defeat the Drizzle, sending Smith out on a loss.

Dead set he was gonna retire in 2018... then 2019... I think lotsa people will be happy when Smith's gone as the comp can finally return to BAU.
