They were the days, I was a painful bugger at times wasn’t I, come to think of it I still am. I sort of grow on people.

Coach Phil Gould has made a stinging attack at Wayne Bennett's comments over the play the ball situation. Bennett has told the media that the play the balls were becoming like a"trench warefare" with players holding down as long as some referees would allow. He also has said that the Broncos will practice this also. Bennett sees as an area that could bring their downfall. Brisbane like quick play the balls as they gather momentum.

Goulds comments about Bennett included "I don't know, I thought he ran the game. I just assumed what he wanted, he got. He'll get the referee he wants, he'll get the location he wants, we'll play by the rules he wants. That's all right. He can come and pick his medal up now. It's not going to worry any of us. The solution is simple. We'll just get Mr Bennett to get all the coaches and referees together and tell us how he wants it and we'll all do it his way."
