Apart from the obvious head knocks and serious long term health for our courageous captain, I couldn’t help but notice how we fell away right after he went off, cruising at 24-0 then Newcastle jag a couple tries and were suddenly a little shaky, and all respect towards us from the refs goes out the window when Boyd is there talking to officials I feel like he’s getting somewhere with them as the game goes on I don’t know if it’s because he’s the Aussie and NSW captain and commands a little more respect or Jake just can’t seem to get that same respect, I do hate it when he flaps his arms about after every second tackle that in my eyes would have him ignored.

    Thoughts?
Cords is such a beast running that crash line whether it's a tough hit up off our line or on the attack that it opens up for jmoz and Toops outside him.
I'm sure Keary loves having him running off his hip and his hard hitting defence next to him.
As the Australian and NSW captain it's only natural he commands respect from the refs whilst Jake doesn't get the same from them.

No, not at all! Just some creative alias names that will be added to my auto-signature, that's all.

my understanding is that boyd didn't fail his HIA. we just decided to play safe. some, mole included, are reporting that he did fail it. obviously we're hoping he doesn't have any problems this week with headaches etc but he's starting from a better spot than in previous times.

I thought Robbo was quite clear in the press conference. Cords passed the HIA but because of the week he had and that the game was pretty much wrapped up the team doc suggested he sit the rest of the game out.

I really hope that Cordner being rested for the remainder of the match against the Knights and possibly rested this week against the Sharks is just precautionary and/or the coaching staff/doctors just following HIA protocols. He’s had a really bad season with injuries overall and to be honest he’s had multiple serious injuries over the years and is being held together by “gaffa tape and WD-40”.

I’d be surprised if Cordner makes it to 30 years of age (playing in the NRL). I really feel sorry for him and I hope the bloke gets a second wind with his playing career and plays on for several years and retires with us with more premierships, but it is starting to look a bit concerning !

Regardless of how long he continues to play for the RWB , Boyd will eventually retire as one of the greatest roosters captain alongside Big Artie. Loved the guy ever since he made his debut and will forever hold him as the best example of hard work and dedication to his trade.

So if he passed the HIA against the Knights I assume that means he didn't suffer another concussion. Boyd was outstanding before he was forced from the field.

Mate, unfortunately the issue with Boyd isn't just based on him passing the HIA assessment on Saturday. Cordner only recently returned from a six-week stint on the sidelines after two concussions earlier this year and the fact that he has picked up another one after six weeks out is significant. Health professionals will have to monitor Cordner (obviously) and determine the best coruse of action with his safety and well-being paramount.

it's a worry. he passed his hia when he was off the field but did he pass the on field test? was he just taken off as a precaution?

if he passed his on field test does he need to follow protocols this week? you'd figure we'll get him to pass those protocols anyway. if he does pass them all then i reckon he should play this weekend.

Robbo said he was taken off for a rest from all the turmoil during the week. Zero concerns about a head injury... he passed all the tests but the doc said 'get him off anyway'.

Cords is as tough as they get and did everything within his power to get on with life regardless. However in the footage before the game he was clearly choking back tears.

IMO we made the call that Cords wasn't gonna come off the field, so we had to force him off. We won by ~30 points... he didn't NEED to be the hero and Sonny was happy to play more minutes of footy to further improve his match fitness in a game where he could get away with a bit of exhaustion. IMO Cords woulda said nothing but deep down woulda appreciated that the club gave him the time/space he needed. We did the right thing and he should be good to go very soon. His mental health is very important!!!

It looks like some of you haven't heard Robbo's presser.

He explains why Boyd didn't return to the field fairly well. There doesn't appear to be any concerns.

It's good to know he was ok when he came off. You could see the worry in our players when they all rushed in to check on him when he was hurt.

SMH is calling him a certain pick as captain of the blues again this year. How does everyone feel about that? I'm no doctor, and I know it would be disappointing for him to miss out, but I'm not sure the extra knocks at the end of the season would be the best thing for him.

if there weren't any concerns we would have left him on the field. hopefully there aren't any ongoing concerns. robbo said the doc decided to err on the side of caution so yes, he passed his off field hia but did he pass travis's on field test? by the looks of things i think he did but he was pulled off a bit after passing that test.
