  • Cordner may be out this week.

Just read that Boyds cousin has passed away due to the head injury he suffered in the footy game.

Boyd returned to the team bubble and participated in the Captains Run today. The late mail article on NRL.com, which mentions his cousins passing, indicates he is playing.

I would doubt he will play though - its just a game and family matters much more and this is where he needs to be.

        tragedy.
boyd did the right thing and visited him before he died. not playing won't help anyone. up to him if he's right to play.

May want to play to honor him?

People grieve differently. Boyd lost his mum as a kid and I suspect he's the kinda bloke who reacts by celebrating the good times + getting on with life.

Not saying any way's better but I think Boyd's as resilient as they get around this sorta thing

Agreed. No right or wrong way here. It must be a decision by Boyd with Robbo’s engagement. Player welfare at forefront of any decisions

I think rightfully Robbo will rest him. Robbo has shown over and over that he puts the well being and welfare of his players first. Sadly Boyd has experienced a lot of tragedy in his life. I hope he is okay.

Pretty sure NRL will have a moment silence before the game as his cousin played for Knights juniors. Boyd may want to be part of that.
Either way what ever is best for Boyd and his family.

I know the situation will be treated with the sensitivity it deserves. The right decision will be made, whatever it is.

My absolute sincerest condolences to the fine man and his family at this tough and challenging time.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

I didn’t want to start another thread about Boyd so I’ll aim my concern here.
Apart from the obvious head knocks and serious long term health for our courageous captain, I couldn’t help but notice how we fell away right after he went off, cruising at 24-0 then Newcastle jag a couple tries and were suddenly a little shaky, and all respect towards us from the refs goes out the window when Boyd is there talking to officials I feel like he’s getting somewhere with them as the game goes on I don’t know if it’s because he’s the Aussie and NSW captain and commands a little more respect or Jake just can’t seem to get that same respect, I do hate it when he flaps his arms about after every second tackle that in my eyes would have him ignored.

                      Thoughts?

boyd is our glue, and I mentioned previously jake always seems exasperated when talking to refs, cords is always calm, measured , collected, like a certain c.smith who we all know commands great respect from the refs. gets you much further.

also cords loves running that ugly carry, which I think a few of our other forwards are a little more likely to do. not only that he runs it hard and fast, not half assing. I imagine those carries hurt.

They scored 2 tries from kicks. Boyd being on or off the field would have made no difference.

At no stage were the Roosters looking "shaky". They completely dominated the Knights. With a bit of lucky we could have won that game 70 to nil.

The Roosters did well last night, but took their collective foot off the pedal.

They will gradually improve in time for the upcoming finals series.

Hopefully Cordner will be okay, with good, careful management.
