    I know it's a stretch but anything's possible.
The difference is that Kearney has no clue whilst I suspect Brian McClennan does.

The only reason Locke would become available whilst he's under contract is because of off field issues, and in that case, the Roosters are the last ones who should be picking him up. He'll end up at the Guppies where anything goes and no one gives a shyte.

Sadly, you may well be right about Locke. I don't know what the status of Fishy-whatshisface though.

      • Warriors young gun Kevin Locke will be calling Mt Smart Stadium home for at least another year after being told by the club they will be taking up an option in his contract.

Rumours had been rife in recent weeks that 22-year-old Locke, who is off contract at the season's end, was in talks with rival NRL clubs for next year.

But the Warriors have first dibs on Locke through an option in his existing contract and CEO Wayne Scurrah yesterday confirmed the talented utility back was going nowhere in 2012.

"We are intending to take up the option with Kevin," Scurrah said.

One insider said yesterday the Warriors had initially considered setting Locke free at the end of the season. Another said the Rabbitohs had expressed an interest in him.

But the Warriors' position appears to have changed after Lance Hohaia recently signed a four-year deal with Super League giants St Helens.

The option will trigger a contract for 2012 but Scurrah remained tight-lipped on whether the club would attempt to negotiate a deal to keep Locke beyond next season.

Off the field, Locke has had a distracting start to the year after being named as the player at the centre of sexual assault allegations. He has strenuously denied any wrongdoing.

        • That contract would be easy to destroy......just keep doing what Todd did. They won't take up the option......but then to what advantage? Who would want to sign trouble....unless the future club was in on the sting :/

            1. Either Gerard Beale or Jack Reed from the Broncos.

            This just my opinion.
Maloney is no better than Pearce, he's got a slightly better running game but an inferior ball playing game. Both are halfbacks I'll agree with you there but we wouldn't gain anything by playing Maloney over Pearce. It's ironic how those who always refer to the last name are the ones who can never get past that reputation and just judge a player for what he's actually done.

Barba isn't off contract until 2016
Jack Reed is a lot close to being a lock than he ever is a fullback (already played a game in the backrow this year for the Broncos), not to mention isn't off contract until 2014
Gerard Beale is an average player, if you're seriously keen on signing a Broncos fullback then Gagai is the next best after Hoffman.

Tis the silly season remember. Bring on 1 March and the season proper.

Mind you, if we lose to the Vermin in Round 1 there will be 17 pages plus of blasphemy and whinging and we'll be wishing the season hadn't begun.

                      • After 18 pages we should start a poll.

Have we signed Locke or have we not signed Locke?
