Albert Kelly, when he's not doing allegedly stupid things against his girlfriends person, is a better halfback than Pearce.
As it grows in numbers, the anti Pearce brigade gets sillier and sillier.

didnt we buy malony to replace braith if and when braith retires.
we , as the roosters should run out braith as 5/8 pearcy as 7 and jake as last years replacement. play it safe for the few games then throw in the mix of mortimer(if he still has it , playing with the jets)1911 1912 1913 1923 1935 1936 1937 1940 1945 1974 1975 2002 2013 2018 2019 2020

Pearce has had the s...t end of the stick since Todd come off the rails
How can any half develop confidence when you pass the ball to someone who cant convert the opportunities (enough times)
When Todd was on fire, Pearce was on fire
I need a 12 month sleeping pill till Maloney gets here...."Qui audet adipiscitur"

I reckon that what Pearce needs is Maloney or a player like him.. We don't get any creativity from Anasta or Friend. I see Pearce as an organiser more than a opportunist, that's why he & Carney were such a great combination. With Pearce & Maloney as the halves add a fullback who likes to chime in, then I reckon we will see Pearce at his best.

Spot on BigFella. Alot of how Pearce's performance in 2012 is perceived will depend on the forwards and our second phase play. If he is forced to create all the opportunities he will probably have a similar year to last year. We will see Pearce at his best when (hopefully it happens) Henare Wells and Moga develop into regular first grade fixtures. It means he can play to his strengths in focusing on his passing, long kicking (Wells will take pressure of his short kicking, not even mentioning Maloney) and support play in the middle. Pearce looked like a world beater in last years first origin game when he had Dugan and Jennings on his left. Wells is a very similar late-set attacking player to Dugan only quicker and Moga looks to be the type of player that would relish any space given to him due to good work by his playmakers. Can't wait to see these young guys in the trials this year. To me our future backline looks equally as promising as our forward pack.

Pearce is a great halfback.. I don't know why there's so many people out their who rate him so lowly.. What more do you want from him? He has great passing skills and excellent vision, one of the best defensive halves in the game, in the top 5 of most support runs for a half, great kicking game except for the occasional mess-ups (e.g. kicking out on the full), knows how to communicate to team mates, was in the top 5 for line-break assists and try assists in either 2010 or 2011 (can't remember, probably both), he's the NSW halfback and that's not changing anytime soon.. Honestly what do you want from him? He can't work miracles. If the players around him are under performing why jump to the conclusion that it's our halfbacks fault? And just because he can't get us out of jail when our whole team has played crap the whole game doesn't mean he's shit. It means the players around him can't capitalize on the platform laid to them by Pearce on several occasions. I've seen it with my own eyes.

I think he is a good halfback I dont know about great though.
He definately does what you have posted, the only thing I think he can improve on is his decision making on the 5th tackle when we are in the oppositions quater. I think he needs to put the ball into the in goal time & time again, then our defence trapping them in goal, making the opposition have to continually drop out rather than kicking cross field bombs for the wingers. Only my opinion.
