As an employer if someone complains about working 11 minutes over they have to go. He was a cancer. Tigers did well to get rid of him.

I would have said they got high and overdosed on pain medication as a result of stupidity rather than as a result of being forced to play with injuries. Don’t think you can pin that one on the coach.

Consistent with his behaviour at Souffs (forcing people to play injured + being a d!ck...etc).

          I back Matto over him.

His complaint suggests Robbo never went overtime, or had a more flexible culture.

I have no issue with working overtime or staying back a little bit later to get things done (I'm a lawyer so go figure). However, it definitely says something about your culture if meetings are regularly going overtime and (for example) people with non-negotiables are being told they can't leave (or are made to feel guilty about picking up their kid...etc). A good worker will set their non-negotiables and be assertive enough to say 'hey boss I've gotta go now...'

Again, Matto's now one of the key players within a quality squad. I find it odd that people would hate on him.

I think this shows more about why we let him go.

Always talented even in the backs and then became a fixture in the side when he reinvented himself as a Backrower. He is a very good hole runner and an astute opportunist rather than a blockbuster of the Cordner type. That crossing himself is irksome though. He would, in all likelihood have nfi re the liturgy of that religion, just another of the countless mugs who believe things without having a shred of evidence on which to base their belief. Come to think of it, that kind of mental atrophy is not the sole preserve of religions, there are all of those who believe that the Libs are the best money managers, that China is a threat to Australia, that liberal democracy isn't bullshit or that Souths are the pride of the league.

                Completely agree RWB.

Yes fair enough that Madge didn’t force them to go out partying whilst on pain meds. But my point was that they were on pain medication in the first place as a result of being allegedly forced to play with chronic injuries. The article mentions Matto complaining about being forced to play after concussion and two days after being in hospital on a drip. The 11 minutes overtime complaint comes across as a bit petty though, not that we’re aware of all the circumstances surrounding it.

That Parra v Tigers game was the toughest game Ive seen this year.
Poor old Michael Chee-Kam having a seizure after being knocked out senseless was a concern. Sam McIntyre & Doueihi both got head knocks & Matto came off second best trying to tackle Packer. Packer was also put on report for a crusher which will see him put out for at lest 2 weeks.
I rate Madge as a coach & you can see the difference in the Tigers this year especially with their defence but Im worried he will run out of troops & not make the 8.

As someone that has met Madge on several occasions, I find it hard to believe he would jeopardise his players health.
It could come down to the information he is given by the medical staff, but I am more inclined to think its players being sooky.
Also if your players don't believe in you then you don't win premierships. At Souths the players did stop believing in their coach only because they started thinking they were better than they were

So do I. After Robbo and Bellamy, Madge is one of the best coaches in the league. It is good to see the gradual positive impact that he is having at the Tigers. It was one tough game the other night.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

After reading matto's reasons for leaving, it explains madge questioning his toughness...
Imagine Robbo trying to convince VR to sit a game out because he needs more rest?
That's the type of forward every coach wants and needs....
Matto to go a cry about training too long, or feeling pressure to play has exposed a massive chink in his armour.

                                Define "toughness".

                                Concussion?
On a drip in hospital, expected to play in 2 days?
Not looking after his body the way the Roosters did?
                                Who needs that?

"Manager, please look for a new club for me".
                                No surprise to me.
