As I remember it SBW was injured a lot.
...and wasn't a tackling machine.
I can see absolutely no value in paying him $800,000 a season.
But you would happily have us pay massive money for an imbecilic drunkard, who cares for nobody or nothing other than himself and refuses to accept responsibility for his actions

He was at least voted the world's best player in 2010....if that's who you mean.
To be fair I think that SBW is probably beyond characterisation as an ex-Dog. He's been playing pro Union for half a dozen years now. (Not that we've had better luck with ex-Union recruits...)
And for what it's worth, I think he's one of the most talented footballers on Earth. He's amazing, face it.
I don't see him being as erratic and flight-prone as some do, even in light of him bailing on the Dogs. My only concern is the amount of cap he'll eat. We have some pretty tight forwards in development and they'll shine at other clubs if we let them go.
Basically, the cap has to be blown off completely.
Without a cap Easts would be like the Yankees or the Red Sox.
Ka'ching!
we have had some handy union converts.

this guy will spend half his time on the sidelines of course since he cant eat ho wont play during Ramadan either, the joy of having mundine in the players pen might sour a few games too? i think a few red cards for excessive shoulder charges might be forthcoming, who knows what personal prejudices the refs will have to wards him?it was only 12 months ago that he was bested big time by an ageing slowing Stirling mortlock! every week will be a new adventure for us?
I'm still not sure how I feel about this possible signing. I thought we were heading in the right direction with the youth policy. I know SBW is a great player but does he have the right character for our new culture? Hopefully he has matured from the selfish, easily lead person who walked out on his teammates 4 years ago. And it wasn't just that he walked out, it was the sneaky way he did it. My biggest concern is if this is a five year deal as reported - not that I believe anything that idiot Rothfield would write - then that is just a few years too many.
Anyway, I'm still not convinced it's a done deal. More SBW's circus (ie manager) trying to drive up publicity and the asking price for his client.

If he does return, then he'll have more room in league because defences are set deeper and he will get the ball in better position. Also, he hasnt reneged on any other contract but his entourage are certainly disruptive and have been in every case so far even with the Blacks. Don't get me started on the "Sonny no train today" comedy routine.
Every week will most certainly be a new adventure for wherever he may be. I stand by my much earlier forecast, and still see him going to the Eels or Warriors, if he comes back at all. This saga, I expect, will go on for months.
