the pope was visiting my town as a kid, when he saw a kid in a Broncos jersey, the pope stops kneels down and whispers something the boys ear. the following day the pope is parading through the same town , when he spots the same child in a Broncos jersey, the pope stops the procession and walks over to the boy and says loudly " I thought I told you to fark off yesterday "

Wouldnt blame them if they did really.
I wouldn't blame them but I can't see a bunch of professionals giving up their salaries + their career during such times (they'd be guaranteed nothing if they went home).

Every year at least one team has to be shyte. IMO this is character building. Haven't heard Smith's comments but IMO he's the last person I'd be looking to for advice on life's lessons if I was sitting on 16th and had just copped a hammering. Whether or not his advice was any good (haven't heard it), he's never been in the weeds like that. He's always been fortunate enough to finish in the top 8 (every season?) and he knows nothing about trying to keep your shyte together under adversity. Last guy I'd wanna be lectured by. I remember when I was down and out with life's lessons a similar bloke 'generously' initiated his version of a 'fatherly chat' with me at work (I didn't ask for it but figured he just wanted to be nice or something so accepted). I shared with him a taste of what was going on in my life (some pretty dark shyte) and he ripped into me... told me I'd never get promoted for various harsh reasons (I had just been knocked back from a very minor pay bump coz I was suffering from PTSD at the time, was a walking zombie and had no time/headspace to write-up a top notch application). He then encouraged me to stay in my job for another 5+ years without a promotion because I 'lacked experience'. This is a guy who was younger and less experienced than me but had been given a better run in his personal life so I was laughing at his suggestions rather than crying. He then showed me a (no joke) 10 page CV, asserted he was 'generously' for sharing it and told me my 1-page CV (double-sided) needed to have heaps of my achievements removed (academic scholarships, uni medals and an international sporting medal). NFI where he's at these days but I found a way to get ahead without his advice. I actively threw out all his 'advice' as it was negative and mean spirited. If anything, I vowed to do the exact opposite coz I didn't wanna become a smug muddafukka like him (when I finally got a decent promotion, the interviewer was very impressed by all the stuff he'd told me to cull from my CV and said it provided a solid POD). Glad I did that instead of sitting around patiently for another 5 years just for 'experience'.

If I wanted to know about getting through a rough patch I'd talk to Friend or Farah, not Smith. Just saying. They have more character and life experience.

PS - just saw a pic of RTS... darn he's built now! (See https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/06/27/...er-charge-ban/).

Smith knows about winning and consistency. the warriors could do with some of that advice. I hate cam Smith, but what he and bellamy did , I thought was heartfelt and not done with any malicious intent, as someone said if it was robbo and boyd, we'd be singing their praises . not everything every other club do is , bad, evil, cheating, it was a gesture of encouragement for a team at rock bottom , not neferious, evil, or otherwise. well done Craig and cam. classy.

Correct plus Smith is probably the best communicator in the game. He doesn't umm and aah! For a guy from Logan, which is like saying Mt Druitt, he speaks very goodly!

I have had the pleasure of meeting Cameron Smith twice. The last time was the day before we played Melbourne in Adelaide. I was with my kids and we approached Smith in the street who was frantically trying to start one of those grab it yourself motor scooters. He immediately put the scooter down and had a chat to us and asked my kids lots of questions and really indulged in the conversation. Just like the first time when I met him, he was a true gentleman.

When I'm in Sydney, I have to go past that place at least once before I return to Brisbane. Last time it was in February this year. I was catching my flight back to Brisbane and I made sure I got to the airport well before my flight departure. Once I was able to check in my luggage, I caught the bus to Mascot heading straight to Hong Ha. One chicken chilli with coriander and plenty of chilli please. I then went to the Pub across Botany Rd and got myself a Heineken pint on tap and ate my lunch. Exquisite!. What made this a memorable day was when I wanted to have a ciggie or two with a beer before my flight so I went to the smoking area and lit up and that. The place was busy with a few older males, all Aboriginal, Souths fans. They told the best Aboriginal jokes I was just LMAO! I loved how they just took the piss out of themselves. I was telling them that I was from Sydney but living in Brisbane so I was flying back then. They were very friendly and on my way out I wished them the best and 'Oh yeah, I'm a Roosters fan!'. 'Oh bugger off Rooster!' Then They had a good laugh!

Well maybe you don't like it or you can't work out that you can go there before or after the rush hour during lunch.

Sounds like they at very least did a million times better than Bennett in their presser.
