Its also the subjective calls on knock ons, play the balls, forward passes (aargh), try/no trys, stripping rule (aargh) etc. that can really shape the game.

And another way a ref can infuence a game has come more to my attention with the no crowds. Its his talk and who /or which team he constantly namedrops or calls out of play. Its often the case one team is called out and micro managed more than the other. Hmmm.
