For years we've been hammered by the refs, but it's only served to harden our boys even more and make us even tougher to beat come finals time when the whistle is somewhat put away. What delicious irony.

Again, it has ALWAYS been about the facts; not baseless whinging. I can't be arsed updating the figures but over a decade they told a clear story.

If you're not bothered that we've traditionally been reamed by the refs then that's fine, but at least acknowledge the stats.

And so far this year I sense a similar theme with the "6 again" calls. We fart, the ref shouts "6 to gooo!".

Meanwhile the Storm play "pile on" and get away with it. Klein abused us last week. Fact.

    Also facts... never forget.

Thanks for bothering to post this eloquent summary.

I see the NRL website does not list "6 to go" calls in their stats summary. Anyone know a source that does?

In my opinion a game such as last night's is the perfect time to call out biased refereeing as being called a "sore loser" is taken off the table.

To be honest I could hardly believe the Broncos and bulldogs games as the ref kept being impartial even though they were both thrashings, and didn't try to manage the scoreline or result as we saw last night and last week. Even with our injuries if that were to continue we would be unbeatable.

Tommy the Roosters have been the most successful club since the NRL was formed so even though your stats show Roosters -344 it doesn’t paint the full picture. Penalties given against the Chooks can work to their advantage they plan for that & they do it very well, being given the least amount of penalties is because when teams play the Chooks they can’t afford to give away penalties because they will get punished.
Nick & Robbo never complain about the refs, yes it’s been mentioned when they have been asked about it but they never make a big song & dance about it. They take the wins & the loses & move on.

Agreed mate. The Cowboys threw absolutely nothing at us, but had lotsa 14 tackle sets in the first half so just wouldn't die. They then got that darn try (off an incorrect 'forward pass' call followed by a ~10 tackle set) and awkwardly pushed their way over (fumbling as they picked the ball up and then grounding it into the goalpost... nope... okay try I guess...)

The refs then gifted the Cows 2 points from right in front (no reason) and they fukking missed they were so stupid!!! We then went on a massive scoring spree because they had absolutely nothing (despite being gifted all the ball for the first 30). If I were the Cows' coach, I woulda been mad because a bit of hard love from the refs helps you to get better rather than being lazy fukkerz.

FWIW - another very valid stat is SUCCESSFUL CHALLENGES. I haven't been counting but we've had 1 just about EVERY game and they are ALWAYS ALWAYS... ALWAYS at parts of the game where the refs seems to have been handing out sympathy penalties in order to get the opposition back into the game. Sure it didn't matter in context but the ref MASSIVELY swung the pendulum the way of the Cows so that it wasn't a 60-6 thrashing (which is where it was heading). To me it's really sloppy to see the ref think he's gonna get away with calling 'knock-on' when SST didn't touch the ball and it went backwards anyway. Somebody should count which team has the most successful challenges + penalise refs for cock-ups.

          • Roosters lost the penalty count again last night. And I think they were awarded fewer 6 again restarts. Just sayin'.

            • There's a variety of tricks that refs use that isn't just penalties and 6 agains. It's when they are given in the set whether it's early on or on the 4th .
Another thing you will see is they will award a try immediately for one team and send everything up to the bunker no try for the other so it's then got to be proven it was a try.
Calling defensive players by name as soon as they make a tackle to release the attacker speeds up the play the ball whilst not doing the same for the other side.
Cummins gave the bunnies 5 penalties to nil by halftime and 3 , 6 agains on top whilst the tigers got their only one on halftime when it was pointless to them.
The tigers were gassed by him working them over.
I watch all games it's not just bias against the roosters.
Some refs are dead set crooks and if you watch closely you can pick up their tricks.

              • Since the game has gone back to one referee it’s quite noticeable that the older refs are struggling to keep up with the game.

Also there is a huge inconsistency with the 6 again rules with the older officials in comparison to the young up and coming ones.

                • every team thinks the ref is biased v them. there's so much scrutiny these days that blatant bias is rare. sorry, that's the way i see it. that said, i think unconscious bias is always going to play a part and our failure in penalty counts might have something to do with that.

The penalty that was given against JWH for that head shot on the cows player, which on the replay it was clear that Jared hit the players back and the arm then went past the players head should have been challenged. I think I heard Jared asking for a challenge but not sure why it didn’t eventuate. Jared was now captain of the team since Jake was off.

In last nights souffs game a head high was challenged around 20 seconds after the incident AND after it was shown on the big screen for Souffs to have that opportunity to challenge. Souffs were successful. Why didn’t the bunker tell Cummins that the time had elapsed?

                    • I ageee with Johnny Brass. I watch most games to and have got pretty good at calling six agains - except when we have the ball.

Markets not standing square is a joke and should be penalised more.

I fail to see how one team can be so superior to another in terms of 6 agains. It’s a team - all 13 players on the field are just that good.

                      I don’t think so.

Didn't you know? We intentionally concede penalties on the 5th tackle, inside the 20 to stop teams for having a shot at scoring :P

Its all subjective. What you think is a 6 again or a penalty someone else doesnt & when the chooks get a penalty or 6 again others think they shouldn't. You want perfection in the way you see it but you aint gonna get it. You go for the best side who are very successful dont sweat the small stuff. Enjoy the ride.
