Mortimer will never play fullback he will be a bench utility and back up in the halves at best.

BJ is a quality young player but again won't play fullback. He would last 25 minutes back there he is just too big and not agile enough for the role. It's the hardest position to the play they run up to 12 km's a game, he just wouldn't be able to do it.

I've said for a long time our best fullback is Perrett. He can catch bombs, can pass better than Mini, run faster and is harder to tackle as well. Again it probably won't happen so we are stuck with Mini for another year.

I actually agree with this, I'd love to see Perrett as our fullback again.

And that would save us going after Josh Bogan. And wingers are often cheaper to pick up than fullbacks.

I wouldn't know, I honestly can't recall him ever passing the ball!

He played very well at fullback when we made that run in 07, I can remember him throwing some lovely passes for wingers. Perrett is a very good player, his only weakness is that he still has a mistake in him.

Anyway who can't pass better than Mini?

Mortimer will never play fullback! I think he will only make the side if there are injuries to either Pearce, Anasta, Friends or Mitchell. And if he is in the side he will play in the halves, hooker or as a utility!!

As everyone has said his size makes him a liability back there...and for those who have seen him play he is more dangerous scurrying around the ruck and getting around the big guys. For our sake I hope he gets a go at 5-8 ahead of anasta (move anasta to lock), if he hits the same form of '09 we could be in for a good season

2013 is looking good for us! Hopefully Anasta n Mini retire (love them, but they are too old now) so we can sign dugan and use some of our up and coming youngsters to tear it up!!!

                Agree.
Purchased as a replacement possibility for several positions, in the event of injury.
He just might surprise us, and fit into the team better than anyone expects.

agree on all fronts except the replacement for mini part. I think wells and RTS in particular are well placed to take over from him in the not too distant future and id prefer to see us sign someone like massey as a short-term fall back solution. between massey, wells, RTS we have 3 of the best young fullbacks going around and in massey you have someone who has played a handful of first grade games and has proven he is up to it which serves as protection in case wells and RTS dont go to plan. Or massey could genuinely beat them both to the fullback berth which wouldnt be a bad thing either. The rest of the backline is set no question.

As for the forwards, i like the look of the pack. It is a little light on experience but whether or not we will need to bolster our pack at the end of the year will turn solely on how it performs this season. If it goes well, there is plenty of talent and potential there to require no further additions. If a few players dont come on as planned or the lack of experience/workrate/leadership is overly noticeable then we may require strengthening in that department.

I think Mortimer would be a great fullback! He obviously doesn't have the ability to play 5/8 or halfback due to not having any kicking or passing skills, he would be a good fullback during the rep season. With Pearce going to play origin the best combo for our spine with Mortimer at FB would be:
                    1. Mortimer
                    6. Mitchell
                    7. Friend
                    9. Minichiello
                    13. Anasta

This would be ideal............ if all our forwards had hands on their ankles. Mini should not be allowed to pass the ball on every set of six let alone every play

Ideally I'd have Mini on the wing but I think Perrett and Tagive are better in those positions.

                                -Mortimer will never play fullback
-Mitchell will only make the starting line up if we have some serious injuries and if so he will probably play at halfback
-Friend will stay at hooker, with a stand out year last year he wont be moved
-Mini at 9 hahah I think this one is a joke putting the guy who doesnt pass in at hooker lol
-Braith will hopefully play at lock!! But most of the season I think he will be wearing the number 6
