  • Morts at fullback?

Just read this article with POS suggesting that Morts is being groomed into multiple roles (obvious enough) including fullback

That comment has to be a gee-up as Mortimer is slower than Mini

Interesting Mick, watching Morts playing style and having youth on his side the possibility of converting to 1 isn't as silly as people might think.we need a player that can cover 1,7,6,9. could be a stroke of genius!

It's not a gee-up. It's a replacement if Mini get's injured, it's not like they're playing him there every game. Mortimer is a good support player as seen in 2009 with the Eels. He has the support skill and the footwork he just needs abit more speed.

We already have slowest backline in the comp and can't do much worse. At least Mortimer is a good backup player who can pass.

            I just can't see Mortimer as a fullback !
He may have good hands, but he is too slow and too small. Surely we must have better options for a backup No.1 than this ....I'd rather Sam Perret fill in at fullback before Mortimer !

Sandow could probably out jump him, this is just too silly, imagine Yow Yeh against him, he wouldn't even have to jump!

Gardiner; 172cm.. Locke; 175cm.. Mini; 175cm.. Morts; 174cm.. Slater; 178cm.. height isn't his problem! Boyd is as fast as the QE2. Hope Morts can cover those possies.

Don't like Morts at fullback, but I do like Dugan at fullback (provided he could stay on the paddock for more than two consecutive games......)

God idiot yes does is and for a start Gardner,Locke and Slater are twice as faster as him so that helps them. Gardner got dropped from the sharks side due to poor form. Remember Barba was playing fullback and how he always dropped or got out leaped going for the bombs, also mortimer would be to bulk up a bit because at the moment for a fullback he would need to be a little stronger and bigger. He would get bashed and chucked around like a toll.

BJ should be our fullback, sfaest under the high ball and runs the ball back hard, may lack great speed, but is still quicker than the pensioner there now

I don't hate that idea. With Anastabater hanging around like a bad stench for at least a year, there's one less second row spot for something like 9 players. If Barba, who is not a fullback's rectum, can make it work then a tank like BJ could too.
