    It's a stupid article.
"It shows the salary cap is not working" ???????

Is it stating that every year the current top 100 players should be evenly distributed throughout the comp?

Is it stating that it's unfair that some clubs are run by smart people while others aint?

How do people get away with writing shit like that.

The fact that this is written in the Daily Telegraph says it all.

It is there for the purpose of feeding the masses.

Correct me if I'm wrong but 6 out of 11 with jwh only a few nrl games before joining chooks ,had debuted for the roosters. So only really 4 of our top 100 players where established nrl players when they joined the roosters.

We were one of those clubs that had to pay overs for players, we were wooden spooners and also runs.
Then we signed Robbo who changed the culture. Under him, we have become the glamour club with players prepared to sign for less to be part of that.
There was a report somewhere a few weeks ago where a lot of players said they would sign for less to play under him, that wasn't mentioned in this story.

If we stuck with Smith or Ricky as a coach we would probably still be one of those clubs.

If I was in charge of the Titans I would offer Robbo $2,000,000 a year coaching contract to get the club back on track, he is the first bloke you would sign to build a club into a premiership force.
Yes, some players chase the dollar but when you are talking about $500,000 difference over 4-5 years you go to the team that wins and enjoy it.

The biggest problem with the Titts is up here on the gold coast the drongos and storm have wrapped up our senior schools, Keebro park and Palm beach. so all the young up and coming stars have to follow the pathways set out thru the drongos and storm. the Tittans have nothing to gain from there kindergarten of talent here due to this monopoly. The talent lost here is staggering. I believe Justin Holbrook will shake that up and i think he get the Titts off the bottom of the ladder. success breeds success..

Only problem with the article is they forgot to add Isaac, Butch and Aubbo to make it 14 for us. Amateurs

Love how this elephant in the room is never mentioned.

Think they're introducing some kind of salary cap for coaches/facilities etc. They're bringing it in in stages but within 3 years you can only spend so much on your coach and training facilities. Think I read that somewhere.

Yeah I think it achieves its purpose of preventing teams from simply buying up a Wayne Bennett style Broncos outfit while rewarding teams for good management.

We not only have one of the smallest spendings of 3rd party endorsements, our spending on actual training has now been capped (semi-secretly... presumably in direct response to us winning B2B premierships). The Raiders (who made the GF thanks to a tardy interpretation of the strip rule) then got a prompt exemption from this cap while Souffs were allowed to 'medically retire' two old bones a year earlier in order to snatch the hottest young talent a whole year earlier (forcing Latrell outta our club during a year when he was contracted to us).

IMO poor managers exploit all the rules then go calling others cheats. Typical loser's mentality. Not our fault that teams squeeze every last drop outta their cap allocation (and then some more through exemptions + third party endorsements) then have nothing left for depth/development. Doesn't take a genius to realise we've just released Cronk + Latrell without signing any new players of that calibre. Not one, and we won't. So shaddap and stop accusing us of cheating + buying our team.

There's a clever little compliment in there when you think about it, it's stating to all the losers out there that until your team wins the comp the cap isn't working, it speaks to everyone but us.

                      Chook.

The oldest saying in the book is it all starts in the front office. Manly would be the only team that are a rabble of an organisation that remain competitive despite constant dramas.

Thank you for sending through the article.

I also don't think it was taking a direct, non-subtle pot shot at us (unusual, I know), but it merely reaffirms what most of us already know - that we are more well managed and run than pretty much any other club in this competition. To the poster that talked about the Titans aiming to sign Robbo, don't even joke about that! When I read it, I thought Jaysus, that would be far too dire to even theoretically contemplate. Do not give Mal, Holbrook and his cohorts even a hint of a sniff at such a prospect.
                            MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

putting robbo or bellamy ( for that matter ) at the titans in their current state would be like planting a vege garden in dry parched land, with sub quality seedlings, hardly any water , but the best fertiliser .

To be a top coach you need the top players.
