I have to respectfully disagree with you sir.
After watching easts get smashed until Freddy showed up and even after that.... after waiting until my teens to see that it was actually possible for us to win the comp I'm more happy for us to win 50nil every week, every season. Who cares about the other team being competitive, I'll take the one horse race.
I understand why considering I've lived through a successful period of Roosters history and i would feel the same way.

I supported through the dark period of 83 to 95 when we made the finals just once. But it would be batshit boring if we won every game 50 nil.

Some of our most memorable wins have been upsets or comebacks against the odds...

One of my most memorable wins was about 94 or 95 and Manly was a heavyweight and we were bog average then. We beat Manly something like 6 to nil and they had all the ball and we tackled our way to the win and Manly probably bombed 5 tries. But that game is still a standout for me....

Yeah well the game of Rugby League as you know it now wont survive if its a one horse race. The game would lose supporters & the TV networks would not pay the money they pay now so players would have to go back to day jobs & the standard of the comp would drop. All 16 clubs need each other & the reason why the Chooks are the best is because the competition has world class players that lift the standard to which gets the Roosters players playing at the highest level.

So assuming we get the 3peet, should we be content of not going for a foursome, as I like to call it, just for the sake sake of other fans? My feelings are that as much as other fans can whinge about sombreros or preferential treatment, deep inside they don’t believe it and admire the great footy we are currently displaying. Their hate is fuelled by envy that their clubs are not able produce the same quality. The only way that the NRL can have different clubs winning the comp at this moment is to handicap us by giving us unfair treatment.

If we go through undefeated for the next 10 years it will not cause me any problems, I’d be living in heaven. Saints won 11 in a row and the competition survived and those players are so revered I’d like the current roosters team to be similarly regarded in 15-20 years time

                  I’m pretty confident we won’t get a 3peat. Not a death ride

My point is that we've seen times when the club wasn't successful, so I want to cherish these golden days while they are here. And I want them to last for as long as possible.

I disagree that the comp would die just because one team dominates for a few years. Dragons won 11 in a row. Parra and dogs 4 each in the 80s. Different times, I get it but the league still prevailed. Heck even with QLD winning 11 series in 12 years SOO is still strong. Its because no one team/player is bigger than the game itself.

Let the good times roll on. Its our times to shine.

I beg to differ this team is a great side.Even when they are not playing good they never give up.
we get injuries and the benchies get up and deliver the killer blow all the time.
Look at Radley ...that bloke last week got head hunted ,against Parra he got smashed 4 times in the head..he keeps coming back for more.
There is a pattern in our coaches trick shots and it all comes together semi final time.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Totally agree …… I remember in 76, after killing the comp previous 2 years, we just seemed to lack that keen edge, 'eye of the tiger', killer instinct ...whatever you want to call it. There were flashes of it throught 76, but for the most part the team looked stale and and contented.

But the 2020 version, this B2B team still looks 100% committed to winning. Still need to have a bit of luck with injuries throughout the season, but since coming back from Covid, Im liking what 'I've seen from the boys commitment and will to win.

Agree. Personell wise, we're probably weaker than 18-19 (no Cronk, Latrell). But as a team, I reckon we're better.

Who says there's no soul, spirit or passion at Easts?
