  • Mundine jr to stuffs is the worst outcome

Cause like him or hate him, Bennett is way more likely to get the best out of him..

let him go to the tigers....they have sucked for 20 years and I can’t see that changing soon under smooth talking Madge
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

It's got a feeling of inevitability about it unfortunately with a few of his mates already at Souths. The question will be what about next year if we don't release him?

My guess is we reach some sort of settlement with them and he is a Bunny next year as we need to "move on" like Robbo said.

I don't think Nick will swallow that bitter pill.

          Bennett is past it.

Gagai and Roberts were both absolute puss last season so he failed to get the best out of them.

Just like he did with Inglis.

Bennett is in the last year of a 2 year deal and if Souffs don't improve markedly, I would expect they will look elsewhere for the future. He will be 70 when his contract expires and he can't go on forever.

Think Bennett signed a 2 year contract from next year, which became a 3 year contract when he moved there early.

FWIW I'm not wasting energy about Latrell going to Souths until it becomes official. So many rumours around.

If you mean Latrell (WTF - he is nothing like Mundine, mun) then TBH I'm happier for him to go to Souffs coz I don't want him being used as a battering ram by some garbage club with no prospects/development.

PS - seriously... Burgess is only 31 and he played is Souffs' loss to Easts in a preliminary final. How the fark can a guy go from ready to play a GF to medically retired because his marriage broke down + he was about to get charged with breaching his AVO? I swear they should be forced to use him and play $1 million for him to be slightly less effective during 2020 [purely due to emotional baggag] (bad luck - that's what you get for offering long-term contracts - risk of enterprise!) Guys like Watmough were forced to play on. Toughen up Samantha! Your $$$ should not be freed up to sign an extra centre...

The Eels had their application to medically retire Watmough approved. Bennett wanted Burgess off the books, he was poor value for money and the only way he could do it was have him medically retired.

With the Storm losing their whole backline except for Munster & Papenhausen I think they may take a dip which leaves the Roosters, Souths & Canberra to take out the title next year. Only Manly have the team that may upset the top 3 if they dont get injuries.
Souths are to well run now because they have money & they will continue to be title contenders whilst that situation remains.
I know its not what you want to hear but believe me its true.

Wayne Bennet has no say over insurance companies so to suggest that Bennett wanted Burgess off the books so the insurance company agreed is incorrect.
I was the corporate registered nurse for David Jones from 2012 to 2016 & I can tell you insurance companies will not part with money unless the claim is bullett proof. I had to liase with them on alot of occasions for people who had injured themselves in DJ's or for employees who had injured themselves & I tell you getting money out of them is like getting blood from a stone.

It's true that it's your opinion, that's all. Opinions aren't facts.

Medical retirement has nothing to do with insurance companies. It is purely at the discretion of the NRL who have to agree that this is a new injury. The remaining piece then is for Souths to make a claim with the insurance company, which they are clearly not confident of getting as they amazingly offered Burgess a 10 year employment contract for $3.6M to fulfil an admin role just before the medical retirement was approved by the NRL. There is no way they would do this if they were confident that Sam would be paid out by the insurance company. The job is effectively their way of paying Sam a settlement to retire.
