Two reasons toughness and work ethic. If you think the current forward line up has enough of both these things then give yourself an uppercut. Yes, I know he is too old but he possess an attitude that would serve this club well.
Maybe the return of Fitzy will assist in the development to this toughness in our side but it really needs to be someone on the field showing what has to be done by example.
Anasta? FMD. A young side is great and I really like the boys developing but they wont develop without a notion of what they need to develop into. Eg Mitchell Pierce has taken longer to mature than a Hunter white. A side needs balance and some experience is essential.
An before you retort with we have Tasi, Mose and JWH that are tough let me say there is a big difference between toughness and big hits. JWH is heading in the right direction and Jake is already there but that is it in my humble view.

On Morley, is he retiring soon? He had next to no impact in that game and looked a shadow of his former self.

So if we were to actually get Tomkins would he be as effective at 6? I haven't seen enough of him to make any sort of educated judgement on that, so what are people's thoughts?
I was actually thinking thinking that Adam Henry could also be an option at fullback, although if Tomkins was available it would be a no brainer.

Its great to be mentally tough but if you can't keep up with the play and stay on the field for the season, then its really a pointless exercise. Peacock is way past it. He will go ok in this series because its a maximum of 4 games, but over the length of the NRL season, I think at his age he would struggle with the intensity. I think your on the money with Fitzy, he's the guy to lead our youngsters forward, not some aging Pom who was a better player 5 years ago then he is today.

If Scheck is the next Benji Marshall, he would hardly be an ideal Mini replacement.
One game and suddenly he's a proven performer?

comparing sheck to benji is outrageous. players who get compared to a current marque player often fail. let the kid be sheck and see how he goes and stateing the obvious hope he is special for our sake.

He isn't a five-eight but from the small footage I saw of him he has a wicked step, looked a bit like Shaun Johnson.

                  Geez people get carried away.

Sheck or whatever his name is hasn't played a game in the NYC and he is already the next Marshall? What a joke.

Also on Tomkins. Yes he did some nice things the other night but he is unproven week in week out in the NRL. I mean Rangi Chase was named the "Man of Steel" and played ok the other night but he was a reserve grader here.

Any NRL team that signs Tomkins on a big deal would be taking a massive risk. There are much better players in the NRL who are proven and would cost less.

Tomkins made genuine line breaks against the so called best defense in the world.

That flick pass was star quality stuff.

He is the real deal and hopefully one day he ventures into the NRL.

Sometimes you just have to take the risk and have a little faith. As long as he has a strong work eithic and stays out of trouble what is the worst thing that can happen? We took a chance with Morley and that went ok.

Yep, he tore open quality oposition at will. The guy has the goods. Those who say he is unproven in the NRL are kidding themselves. He just made the best defensive NRL outfit look very ordinary.

How much would he be asking for? I'd imagine top dollar for me it's just too risky for an unproven player.

He also is in a key position unlike Morley, the English forwards have been very good here. How many top play makers have the English produced recently?

I think if he came to the NRL he would be of first grade standard but not much more.

You make Baby Jesus cry. At least there is still a bit around if our youngsters don't come on strong.
