The Sydney Roosters have pulled off a coup in signing boom Dragons rookie Jack Bosden on a two-year-deal.

Bosden has been earmarked as a future representative player by experts, and was being lured to the Newcastle Knights by outgoing Dragons coach Wayne Bennett, but has opted to relocate to Bondi Junction. The 22-year-old back-rower is seen as an ideal replacement for retired utility Daniel Conn (neck), and Roosters officials hope he will develop into a player like Gold Coast-bound Maroons forward Nate Myles, who can play at prop or in the back row.
    Bosden is a front/second rower.

    McKinnon is the centre.

Bosden is too big and slow to play in the centres.

      Thank you.

Originally a Cronulla-Caringbah junior, Jack Bosden made his debut for the St George-Illawarra Dragons in round 9 of the 2011 NRL Season. He plays in the front-row or second-row.

After initially being touted as following coach Wayne Bennett to the Newcastle Knights at the end of the 2011 season he eventually signed a two year contract commencing in 2012 with the Sydney Roosters.

      We all clear now?

Put him in the second row and watch him shine, and if I am wrong, well it would be easy to slot another of ourover abundance of forwards into the position.......(I dont think I am though).....
It looks like JWH has joined the chookpen.

I would have Jwh, Aubbo, Fpn, starting and Taka, Guerra and cordner fighting over bench spots...

We have a plethora of options in the forwards, with lots of flexibility in terms of positions and who starts or is on the bench. Even without injury playing a role we will probably see some variation throughout the season for purely tactical reasons.

The only two things I'd be surprised to see would be Maubs at lock or JWH in the second-row.

Lock is a more agile prop nowadays, whereas Maubs--fit and in form--is one of the best edge line-runners in the game.

JWH is a mid-field enforcer for mine--prop or lock.

Fair enough on what he's shown in first grade so far, which has been solid rather than spectacular. However don't underestimate--given his age and bad luck with injuries--just how much he might improve extremely quickly (even simply with this pre-season under his belt).

Let's not forget he had his jaw broken in 2009, missed the entire 2010 season due to a knee-reconstruction, and made his NRL debut last year shortly before his 19th birthday. To look as comfortable in first grade as he did, even if he didn't set the world on fire was damn impressive.

I don't normally buy into hype, but couple these facts with the truly massive wraps on him by a number of experienced judges and its hard not to get excited about just how much he might improve in the immediate future. Can't wait to see him in the trials.

Trust me Smithyfan this guy is the one. You are spot on with, To look as comfortable in first grade as he did, even if he didn't set the world on fire was damn impressive.

He is a born footballer who will play for Australia. Hopefully the Roosters dont lose him.

Yeah, I'm convinced he's going to be a special player. Whether he's another twelve months away or more from first cementing a spot and then dominating at NRL level is the only question. Posters in some other threads are suggesting he may not quite squeeze into our 17 if all forwards are on deck to start the season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that change pretty quickly.

Out of curiosity, what do you think will end up being his best position. He looked perfectly suited at lock last year, but it has been suggested that he will be devastating out wide once he starts to fully realise his potential.

Mate at the end of the day I think he could master both. I tend to feel he would be better suited to playing out wide but in saying that he could handle playing tight in the middle doing 45 tackles a game & taking the ball up at least once every set of 6.

IMO this guy will be playing NRL for at least the next 10 years & then go to England.
