He knew what was coming so he ‘retired’ with seconds to go. Im thinking Crowe and Fatcho encouraged him to retire before they had a player in their ranks on charges.

Was only a few days ago Greenberg described him as an ornament to the game. He was a fantastic player and competitor but at the same time he was a complete grub on and off the field.
His on and off field record would read a hell of a lot worse than it already does if the NRL and media had subjected him to the same rules and scrutiny that others have faced.
No way shoulder injury could be described as new but no doubt Todd will make sure Souths and Sammy are looked after. Remember...When Souths are strongl, Rugby League is strong... gag, gag.

But I'm with Mickie. SB had a sneaky grubby element in his game, which caused him more strife than it was worth but he was one of those forwards who could win you a game in attack and in defence. Plus he was clever, sometimes in a sneaky grubby way (e.g. that fateful tackle on Cronk in the prelim last year took an awful lot of skill and timing to execute without being penalised).
When all's said and done, you don't want the good players to have to retire before their time (although the NRL might want to have a look at the domestic charges and see if they partly caused the decision).

Just hope Souffs don't use this cap space to get Latrell. Surely they target a forward first right?EASTS TO WIN!
