I know some will say who gives a toss but I have to say I will miss Big Sammy Boy. I thought he was a top player & I loved his style of play. As a Roosters supporter I always loved watching the Roosters v Souths & watching the aggression of Sam & the aggression by the Roosters stopping him. Will be missed.

I hope he shut’s the door on the way out! He was a great player but equally a grub.
Interesting timing for his retirement / domestic violence charge.......we will never know what the NRL’s response would have been to this charge had he not retired. I’m guessing the standard nothing to see here ....it’s Souffs.

Sam Burgess was a great player- damaging runner especially close to the line and a tremendous aggressive defender. You cant say otherwise just because he played for Souths!
That judiciary record was because he did go hard and pushed the limits too far- but thats what made him great. Its a shame that he could never play State of Origin- its him all over. The only weakness in his game came in the last few years of his career and that was his hands- he was always good for a couple of unforced errors at vital times. Its like he caught a case of the dropsys from his twin brothers and they never found a cure!

But I'm with Mickie. SB had a sneaky grubby element in his game, which caused him more strife than it was worth but he was one of those forwards who could win you a game in attack and in defence. Plus he was clever, sometimes in a sneaky grubby way (e.g. that fateful tackle on Cronk in the prelim last year took an awful lot of skill and timing to execute without being penalised).
When all's said and done, you don't want the good players to have to retire before their time (although the NRL might want to have a look at the domestic charges and see if they partly caused the decision).

A talented player, but there's no place in the game for his testicle twisting and hair pulling antics. Now he's threatening to beat up pensioners. Good riddance.
(I'm still waiting for johnnysekret's update on the revenge porn charges that will be made against that woman who complained about Sam indecently exposing himself. Oh, and the civil case against Nick Politis for framing Burgess in the first place.)

I don't want to get all X-files here but, this smells like a Greenturd special.
Scenario.... got a heads up on the imminent charge, talk to LOL to retire him and if so, you will get cap dispensation.
Sam get full payout, Souths have cap to play with, NRL don't have to deal with another PR nightmare. Just saying.
