I don't care if Anasta is a good bloke or great club man.

At the end of the day he is our highest paid player.

He does very little to justify this.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Well said mate. Whether you like Anasta's playing ability or not he has been a great role model to young kids. Some on here would rather have a dumb piss head like Carney at our Club instead. And sometimes I think some on here would make great journalists. They jump straight to the most pessimistic conclusion possible if they dont happen to like the player. Anasta is obviously a very talented sportsman if he is off a 1 handicap and my understanding is he is talking of golf AFTER league. Good on him. I have never been a huge fan of his playing ability, he is decent without being great, (if anything he was built up as a star by journo's when he was young) but I am the first to acknowledge he is a great ambassador for the game.

FFS, i'm sick of this 'great ambassador', 'good bloke' shit....

He's payed to play football, not be a good bloke or ambassador for the game! Payed well...Too well, for his limited ability imo!

If he wants to be a good ambassaddor, go get a job at NRL headquarters and work with young kids coming through or something!

I've never rated him, although i never said a bad word about the bloke until he had a whinge to the media when it looked like he wasn't going to get his contract extended! **** him!

And farrk phantom and the dopey crew who decided to stick their nose into football club business and start petitions to keep the useless carrnt!

            Again.

Brad Fittler - Space cadet - quite possibly a chronic user of recreationally polypharmic drugs - led us almost single handedly to our first premiership in 27 years.

Braith Anasta - Johnny Upright - reached the finals once in 5 years as captain and 5/8th.

Post of the off-season. Too many around here with rosey coloured glasses who have that semi final field goal on youtube as their home page.

              Time for FOBA.

Twice as we came 4th in 2008 but i take your point.. I am so sick of the 'good bloke', 'great for the club off the field' stuff.. I pretty much lose it when that is the best people can come up with.. I can be all those things too, I want him to play up to his salary and unfortunately he is too limited in ability and composure to get anywhere near that.

I highly doubt he's still on big money, plus what other option does this club have at the moment?

He isn't the greatest, but his more then capable of doing the job.

Absolutely 100% correct - couldn't have articulated it any better. The only thing that Anasta has ever justified is his over rated tag, he used to be ordinary, he is still ordinary and will continue to be ordinary.

Unfortunately there are a few others in our team like Anasta, that are over paid given their lack of ability and skill or their ability to make dumb mistakes week, after week, after week - season after season (yet they never get dropped) - If nothing ever changes, nothing ever changes.

That has a nice ring to it Buddy.

You know when people can only justify a player's retention with the excuse that he is a nice guy or that he kicked a field goal once that he is a dud.
