On second thoughts, this would probably be the team i would like to see in a more realistic sense (ie looking at players who are on the market/would potentially leave their current clubs):
1. Locke
2. Moga
3. Aubusson
4. Kenny-Dowall
5. Perrett
6. Graham
7. Pearce
8. Merrin
9. Friend
10. Kennedy
11. Sonny-Bill Williams
12. Cordner
13. Watmough
14. Mortimer
15. Warea-Hargreaves
16. Tasi
17. Leilua
SBW for the x-factor that we will lose now that carney has lost. imo, aubusson playing in the centres outside him would be the perfect foil as he runs excellent lines and would straighten the attack well outside of SBW. both could also swap during the game between centre and backrow and aubusson's defensive workrate and one-on-one tackling would complement SBWs game perfectly as well. As an aside, i would go with cordner over guerra but either player would suffice inside SKD down the right.
Merrin and Watmough would give our pack much better thrust and are good workers which would complement the likes of SBW perfectly and really balance our pack. Merrin is off contract at the end of 2012 and watmough has a get out clause tied to hasler so both could be realistic acquisitions particularly if we let go of FPN who is too inconsistent for my liking.
with carney heading to cronulla and wade graham also offcontract at the end of next year, i think the opportunity to play consistent first grade in his prefered position could be enough of a lure for him. he wouldnt demand as much as others like johnson and foran but despite his obvious comparisons to anasta, i think he would offer plenty from 5/8 outside pearce and also give us a left and right footed halves pairing.
Finally, although ultimately I see RTS or wells becoming our long-term fullback, kevin locke is impossible to go past - he is a billy slater clone. a more realistic alternative could be gagai as he is behind a few at the broncos and also plays very similarly to locke and slater but its hard to go past locke.
