What do you think of Nathan Massey?

I thought whenever he came in when Dugan was out he did really well imho.

      - Didn't know Khunt was much of a 5/8? I think you're digging up rumours from 2007-2009. He's on billions with AFL and won't be back IMO.
      - We've heard the Dugan rumour before... seems to be a worse kept secret than Carney!
      - Israel... the number of FBs is starting to look suss man!!!
      - SBW... thought you'd say Nonu? SBW has spent most of his time sitting on the bench while the ABs kick @ss without him.
      - Where's Quadr Cooper? :P thought he was the other overly-used Roosters candidate?

Who is Gagai???????? And I thought the Dugan rumours were only relevant whilst Carney was here as they are buddies and their IQ is along the same scale?

Despite Dane Gaigai's talent & enormous potential, there's no chance this young indigenous kid would leave Qld and head to the bright lights of Sydney. Not many do from up there unfortunately.
Josh Hoffman does it for me.

He's the one I want...most promising fullback in the comp.

Massey is a great young player can cover 5/8 too although I think his best position is fullback.

Canberra signing him from the 'dogs shows just how worried they are about losing Dugan.

If Dugan does re-sign we should make a big play for Massey, he'd definitely be looking for first grade opportunities and he's not going to get any ahead of Dugan and Campese.

Why don't we just save our pennies and see what our young guys can do? Replace Mini when he retires, replace Anasta when he goes, but don't bother with anything else? I'd like Johnson, Bolton, McGuire, Tomkins and co, but then I come to the conclusion we need to stop being a buying and selling club.

Every club in the competition is a buying and selling club. There is a myth that we do it more than others, but that is garbage. St. George practically rebuilt their entire roster in a few years, as did the Dogs. Brisbane have raided for big name signings for a long time. Look at Souffs, the supposed club of the juniors, who "don't play checkbook rugby league."

We have a pretty young seven and nine combo as it is, I don't think we can afford chucking two of our never-played-first-grade rookies into two of the most important positions.

I would be happy if we signed a talented fullback and gave Lazarus a crack in the halves though, with an outside back coming in.

I agree the club has to enter the player market, only for a fullback and 5\8 though. No SBW or forwards needed.

I thought we would of learnt from buying ex bulldogs? they have bought us nothing but trouble except for Anasta, who hasn't lived up to expectations on the field either.

What SBW did to the game of rugby league when he walked out(ran away) during the season, during a 5 year 500,000 contract, to go play rugby union in france was disgraceful and i cant believe the club i love would be that soulless to buy a person of this calibre.

We do not need a person like that, what message does it send to others?

We have great young forwards that want to play for the Roosters and play Rugby League.

We don't need any more forwards. The 1,6,7 and 9 are the most important positions and a strike centre. We have our 9 in friend and our 7 in Pearce and in the future a strike centre in Moga. We need a fullback who can ball play and break the line and a 5\8 with good support play that can make something happen.

If we buy anyone the club needs to spend it on the fullback and 5\8 position. Then we are in good shape for the future

I agree, the rest of the team looks relatively set for the long-run IMO.

                        1. Minichiello
                        2. Perrett
                        3. Kenny-Dowall
                        4. Leilua
                        5. Moga - upgraded from Roosters NYC
                        6. Anasta
                        7. Pearce
                        8. Kennedy
                        9. Friend
                        10. Hargreaves
                        11. Guerra
                        12. Aubusson
                        13. Cordner

                        14. Mitchell
                        15. Takairangi
                        16. Tasi
                        17. Masoe

                        Reserves:

                        Carney (backs)
Tupou (backs) - signed from Eels NYC
Henry (backs) - signed from Warriors NYC
Tagive (backs) - signed from Dragons
Ailomai (prop) - signed from Knights NYC
Evans (prop) - upgraded from Roosters NYC
                        Symonds (forwards)
                        Arona (forwards)
                        Cherrington (forwards)
Bosden (forwards) - signed from Dragons
Dumbrell (hooker) - upgraded from Roosters NYC
Blackman (hooker) - signed from Eels NYC

In retrospect I would have probably kept Ryles on for one more year, rather than sign Ailomai, and kept Linnett rather than sign someone like Tagive or Tupou, but otherwise it is a very strong squad.

100% agree with that lineup Mack. That backline is what I want to see too but I imagine Tagive might start the season with Moga to come in later.

Tagive has two things that our current backline has been seriously missing height and speed, if he has a good run with injuries (and that could be big if) he could be a potent attacking weapon. He would be the first picked in my 2012 backline. We need a backline that has the potency to break the line and the speed to finish it off.

Perrett who is a lovely guy (and I know he will get picked) but he couldn't run out of sight on a dark night and SKD on all but 2010 form is a slow, sideways running gimp who refuses to use his shoulders in tackles and and can make an error out of anything.

Personally my team for next year would be

                              1. Anthony Minichiello
                              2. Adam Henry
                              3. Tau Tau Moga
                              4. BJ Leilua
                              5. Peni Tagive

                              6. Braith Anasta (Under sufferance, until we find a new 5/8)
                              7. Mitchell Pearce

                              8. Lama Tasi
                              9. Jake Friend
                              10. Jared Warea-Hargreaves
                              11. Aiden Guerra
                              12. Sonny Bill Williams (Doen't hurt to dream)
                              13. Boyd Cordner

                              14. Anthony Mitchell
                              15. Martin Kennedy
                              16. Mose Masoe
