    Totally agree melon head.

But does Pearce want to be a 5/8? That might be half the problem.

I can see him chucking a hissy fit and wanting out if he was ever to be shifted there.

P.S Hughes can bat, Ponting is a legend and Hauritz is useless!

Hughes is like Michael Di Venuto in the 90s, swashbuckling player who's got a walk up start to a permanent spot but he needs to improve (unlike Di Venuto) if he wants to be permanent.

That's a pretty good comparison actually.

And here i was thinking you had no idea after your remarks about Punter.

Why for you no likey the champion that is Ponting old son?

It's two things actually. He was the beneficiary, like Steve Waugh, of having two of the best bowlers in cricket history in his side.

Harken back to Allan Border who was left to pick up the pieces after Kim Hughes was screwed over and quit, he had to rebuild after losing the core of his team and when we won, like the 1989 Ashes win, it was through hard work by a bunch of toilers.

                1. Watson
                2. Hughes
                3. Katich
                4. Ponting
                5. Clarke
                6. Hussey
                7. Paine
                8. Krejza
                9. Harris
                10. Copeland - superstar
                11. Siddle

                As it should be.

I'm still a massive Stuey Clark fan tbh, especally after watching the recent champion league..can't wait to see the likes of O'Keefe, Lynn, Starc, Maddinson, Faulkner, M.Marsh to be given a shot sometime soon.

Still can't begin to fathom the mistreatment of Hauritz last summer. Absolute farce when you think about it. He wasn't in bad form or anything..Punter's seemingly bipolar nature saw his Tassie team-mate Xavier picked. Nonsensical.

Imagine England flicking Swanny or India flicking Harby or the Sri Lankans flicking Herath just before a major series. Really ****ed us over IMO.

lyon is a younger and arguably better version of krejza and now that he has been picked (although prematurely), we have to persist with him at least for a summer or 2.

katich is too old and we need to take the team forward/cut down on over 30s considering we still have hussey and ponting in the side who will seemingly reitre at the same time so if you keep katich in there as well you are left with the prospect of having 3 batsmen all retire at once - hardly ideal. marsh and khawaja are ready and should continue their battle for the final spot in the Australian batting line-up.

copeland for mine bowls way too slow and tbh, watson is basically a better, faster version who offers more variety (reverse and conventional swing, extra pace etc). so if anything i think we should consider moving watson down the order to 3 or 4 and increasing his bowling load and move khawaja or marsh up to open.

Bollinger is a necessary inclusion as well imo. we need a left armer for something different. he is a great new ball bowler and was one of our best just before the ashes until he got injured. he is back to full fitness so should be reinstated. he and harris have the potential to become a very tidy new ball pairing. the 'tie-up an end' abilities of copeland as i have said can easily be replaced by watson and siddle both of whom are very accurate but also offer heaps more pace and do a bit more with the ball particularly in the air whereas copeland relies solely on movement off the deck. that said, if copeland can beef up a bit and get up around 130-135kmph, id have him back in the team for sure but some of those spells down between 115-120 in sri lanka were embarrassing imo.

                  anyway, enough about cricket.

                          Yeah but he's comfortable now.

Chooks half for the last 5 years and the incumbant Blues 7.

I just can't see him liking a move at this stage.

Mind you, if he ever did get shifted and had a whinge, he can get farrked!

Amazing that in Pearce's 100 or so games with us he hasn't been put at 5/8 not once. Yet we throw any of our given squad at any time into a position they haven't played before, and leave them there.
