  • Bears vs Blacktown (Manly) today

Big day out at Bear Park today with Norths taking on their old rivals in the Members Appreciation round.

Bears players will wear a special jersey that includes all the names of current members on it.

Blacktown have a couple of guys trying to resurrect their careers in Trex and Tim Simona, and a decent halves pairing in Docker-Clay and Kane Elgey.

Bears have Ikuvalu, Lewis, Smith, Lam, Lamb, Hutch, Collins and Verrils playing. Sammy gets a start this week looking at JTs first draft with Brad Deitz on the bench. Be interesting to see how he goes , and can Billy Smith keep the meat pies coming?

It's a better place to watch footy than the SCG with the best team song going around...Stand Aside! I think it's on Ch9 too from 1pm.

    Go the Mighty Bears.

And Farmer was also named for the Bears, and as he only played 14 mins yesterday is eligible to back up . Dont know if he will though.

Coat, are you a Bear first and Chook second?

or do you just reside on the north side and like the feel of old style footy at the oval?
        ..it’ll be interesting to see

Lol..you could be forgiven for thinking.

No mate Easts to the core, but I have a real liking for the second tier and feeder comps. It's more like the footy that I grew up with. And I love seeing the guys progress to the top grade.

I loved the Jets arrangement, then supported Wyong now the Bears even moreso with some family connections.

And there's so little commentary on here about the other grades so try to fill that void a bit.

With you Jack came down for the Roosters game yesterday and will be out at watching a CRL Group 10 game this afternoon between the Lithgow Workies and the Bathurst Panthers. But like yourself, you can only really love one Team and that is Easts for me - Wigan in the Super League as I lived in Wigan and Manchester at different times in my life and the Lithgow Workies (Lithgow Shamrocks it would be if they were still going around) locally.

The Newtown one was great. I used to watch them 4 or 5 times a year and the wife and kids loved it. Hotdogs and beer on the grass and that lunatic on the unicycle made it more than a footy game.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

                      He’s better than Latrell.

Thanks Coat.. without all three grades on the same arvo it definitely has its place and more people would agree with you if they went. The quality is good too.

You can understand Trent going every week but it seems that Nick goes with him too. Hope this marriage with North’s succeeds in the long term
