"There's a lot of people competing for title of dumbest chookpen member such as Tommy S, Rusty, Johnny, ROC, Tobin but without a doubt you are the worst, youre thick as a brick christ this is the dumbest thing I've read in a long time you should go back to supporting the panthers"

He is totally outplaying the myth from Newcastle in a big game. Yeah he should retire...Originally posted by boogie

He's just a step off the pace.
Whether it's the field goal last week or the reaction speed to catch the offload from Teddy today you can just see everyone's moving a step quicker and it's putting more pressure on him. Compare a backline spread when we go to Keary, how quickly he dispenses the ball to his outside backs or makes the decision to run compared to Cronk when he's dispensing to the right egde. Our play off Cronk this year always looks clunky and Aubusson switching in for Crichton has only slightly improved that.
I will say this, I think he has been asked to do too much in Keary's absence. He's not a spring chicken any more so he's not going to be the dominant 60-70touch per game organising half.
But he's got enough experience and enough intelligence to sit back, allow Keary to run the show and add his input when its needed. In that second half he kicked us into corners well, and on the back of others opening up the game for him he made a good half break near the line that set up Cordner's try and then a simple draw and pass for Aubs try. He's still got the intelligence to sum up the game very well.
The advantage Cronk had last year which he's really missing this year is he was doing more ball playing at second receiver, Radley shifted to lock in the back half of the season last year and did a fair bit of first receiver play pushing Cronk a little wider into second receiver where there's far less inside pressure and he has a little more time to play his options. This was when our right edge really started to click last year. Radley is the missing piece to our right edge IMO, I know that sounds funny because he's a middle player but it's his work at first receiver that pushes Cronk wider and gives him a little more time to ball play.
I thought we got the balance right today, 55touches for Keary and 40 for Cronk. I feel like we could probably even shift that balance a little further towards Keary but it's a step in the right direction. I really hope Friendy's injury isn't too bad for a number of obvious reasons but also because I truly believe Radley is the key to Cronk performing at a higher level.
What must be considered too is his on field leadership. It's clear the boys respect him and it's clear he has a strong voice in the group. That has obvious value but its more crucial that he's a value contributor on the field.

Now that he is married and a father, the edge can be lost. Especially after last years feats.
Also think he is playing injured as he wouldn’t bother getting an operation if he could manage it through the season...it’ll be interesting to see

I thought he played well in the second half again. As I have said before, and Rooster 6 has said in this thread, I think Cronk just needs to let Keary be the more dominant playmaker, and let Cronk weave his class intimidate the games from the backseatEASTS TO WIN!

We won the comp with him last year.
He has been a massive culture influence during his time.
I don't give a shit if he makes mistakes on the field.
If we still had Pearce we wouldn't be the club we are today.
Wake up people.Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

He's going pretty good. Looking forward to his calming influence in the big games.
