Interesting to read about Blayke Brailey opening up on being tempted by an offer from the Roosters before sticking with the Sharks in the end.

This is a guy who is already playing first grade, so he wouldn’t be coming to play for Norths

Shows that the club is already looking past Friend.. or this injury is worse than they are letting on and have to come up with something quick for next year.
The Cronulla hooker was chased by more than half a dozen NRL clubs before deciding to stay put with brother Jayden.
      ..it’ll be interesting to see

Verrills has been added to the 30 man squad, taking the last spot. We have 2 development players, but we are allowed 6. I think there is a June 30 deadline as to whether we can add more development players and what they can actually do this season, but they can't play first grade. . The only other player named as a hooker in our 30 man squad is Garvey.

There is no replacing Jake.He has been the best hooker in the game since mid season last year..big loss.

Any word on Garvey... season ending injury?

FWIW I saw Jake up close before the Storm game (in Moore Park with a couple of the other guys who didn't go to Melbourne). Compared to the last time I saw him up close (a few years back) he looks MASSIVE! Really fits the description of a 'nug'... dunno if that's just me or something he's consciously been working on but his guns + chest were seriously bulging (maybe I just didn't notice before). If so, it must be really disappointing to have put in all that work protecting his body only to get injured like that.

Hope Jake's back sooner than speculated (and fully recovered).

I was sure Walker would pick Jake for QLD over Hunt cause Hunt goes missing in big occasions but would have been handy off the bench. Disappointed cause Jake had to wait for a long time after Smith.

As for a replacement in the upcoming games I’d like to see what Verrill can provide against the tigers and leave Radley at lock and if victor needs to step in he can.

Yes we will mate. It’ll be whoever is wearing the 9 jersey.
Just like all the players before Jake

Call me crazy but what about trying Lam as a hooker, similar to JMK for the dogs. JMK is a half through and through but he’s done well this season as a 9, and we can have Verrills or Aubo come on for him during games

a long layoff for jake, the team will have adapted to the playing style of a new hooker by the time he gets back, bit of a dilemma for robbo if it is indeed 3 months out interesting to see which way he goes with this probably radley but watching him i reckon hes a far better lock than a hooker.

The only change will be Liu for Jake with Rads to 9.

                          Sir Aubo can cover hooker.

Yeah i think this will be the case also.

On Aubo, gee he had some poor and lazy efforts in defense the other day, not like him at all

Tend to agree but club needs to make an assessment if Sam v is a future FG and in out future plans. Best way to find out if play more games and eventually expose to longer minutes and consecutive matches. We have had success that affords us the luxury to experiment

The club has signed Verrills as a hooker, he will be given a chance to show if he is up to it. This is his chance. It has come earlier than they expected but I hope he gets a go, probably of the bench against the Tigers.
