And that is as black and white as it needs to be.

Sure - I get all that. I was responding more to the general vibe on the thread implying, “well, that’s that then...”.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

An 800k yearly advantage over other teams is enormous.

Makes you wonder just how much those Melbourne sides who got caught cap cheating were actually spending more than every other team once you factor in their TPA deals on top of the salary cap rorting.
Yep, we could have kept Naps, Pearce and got Toopow!

I have no problem with Melbourne having the highest TPA's. Its an AFL state so to get good NRL players down there it has to be that way. Instead of TPA's the Storms salary cap should be 1 million dollar more than everyone else.

Yeah its really got nothing to do with Melbourne as a club anyway. Slater took up about 20% of all 3rd party value across the Nrl all on his own. Had he been playing for the Titans last year then they would have had the highest TPA.Once Smith retires Melbournes TPA will be close to Zero.

And the moon landings never really happened.

Uncle Nick explained the key elements of the Roosters cap management in an article some months ago. From memory these were: long term planning; making hard decisions about releasing players still in their prime; purchasing fringe players with talent who have the potential to rise; identifying and developing talented youth; no back-ended deals; few third party deals; and occasional big investments in elite players.

Conspiracy theories about brown paper bags are just that. The risks of a disgruntled player going public are too great - huge fines, losing premierships etc.

Aside: The Storm's $1m+ TPAs make their cheating even more incredible. How much of an advantage do they think they need? $3m more than everyone else?

                  Surely you jest?
Our club is extremely well run...................we could afford much better quality bags than ones made of paper.
