Only if Cronk retires and Radley shifted to 5/8th. Otherwise it doesn't make sense replacing Maubs who is earning peanuts, with SBW earning a fortune, and then justifying the expense by unnecessarily rotating SBW with 80 minute players.

The priority should be convincing Cronk to play on for a three-peat.

Secondly , have you watched him in Union the last 18 mths ? ( yes , i admit it, i watch Rugby) He really has aged with his play. Is looking very slow and does drop off more tackles than ever. Is he still extremely skillful with that killer offload ? yes, but not as often, busts a lot less tackles and does push the pass more than ever. The big thing for me though is injuries, has had quite a few and always seems to be carrying something , maybe as you would expect at his age. As we know though Union is a LOT easier on the body than Rugby, Im not sure it would hold up in League. I also believe Cronk has a lot more to offer the club in a mentoring and coaching role heading forward than SBW. Just my opinion and i do love what SBW did.for us
Lot of good points in that.............food for thought.
I haven't been watching any union, life is too short for that, but I'd believe he's less effective than he would've been 4 or 5 years back.
Perhaps he needs more of a challenge?
I agree that we are well served in the backrow department and it could affect retention, depending on whether Aubbo is playing on or not.
      Could Sonny-Bill play prop?

      Good post in any case.

The key ingredient whether SBW signs or not is whether he is selected in RWC Japan

Watching him in his come back games for the AB's

            He's really broken

He only lasted 10 mins in a test match before another injury

9 games over 2 seasons is grim

I would give SBW a miss as a player if I was the Roosters. If he wanted to be the trainer/conditioner then I would entertain that.

I would like him to play the back half of 2019 for us.
Imagine him on the bench come September? WOW.
2020 as a trainer, etc. YES.

This story pops up every 3 months oo so.

There might be another one just before the season starts.

Not sure what coaching abilities he has that people want him here for that, nobody will give what sonny demands for himself, and rumours were that not many were happy with his demands he wanted from others back in 13/14. People like SBW,Federer,Tiger,Brady and other super elite sports people, have a sickness for what they expect out of themselves, they live and breathe their respective sports, it is why they are greats, and I don’t believe it’s something that can be coached or taught.

sonny also has strong beliefs, and it is something he would preach because it’s natural to him, but many others don’t share the same beliefs, and it could turn a few off.

would love to see him back as a player, but if his body fails, or he fails to live up to expectations, then another player would miss the chance to be in the top 17. Would be nice if we could just see how he goes after 10 rounds and then just flick him if it doesn’t work.

No way as a player, he struggled in 2014 , and is now older and even more injury prone, but definitely as a mentor, to our younger upcoming players, and as an ambassador for the club, I think he has a lot to offer the club.

I remember watching the 9's comp when Brad Fittler came out of retirement, his brain knew exactly what to do but his body said "nah mate". Sonny Bill was great in 2013 and was an integral part of the victory. But his body has started to say "nah mate" when he tells it do something so I'd retire with dignity if I were him. There are worse things than being filmed rooting a slapper in a pub dunny. Disgracing your legacy by playing past your used by date is one of them.
