He was accounted for under our 2019 cap and yet Robbo had no issue releasing him. If both he and the club genuinely thought his best days were ahead of him and he was JWHs heir apparent then surely we would have retained him.

As it is I reckon Robbo, Fitzy and co see Napa for what he is. A huge underperformer when you measure what he has been capable of (the Souths game) vs his actual output.

Maybe they see enough in Lindsay and Butcher. Or maybe Josh Curran is ready to tear it up at lock forward and Liu does shift into frf.

Either way Robbo highly values and knows his pigs well. And he just let Napa walk so I'm sure he's confident in our internal replacements.

Also if that money goes towards re signing the two best centres in the game then that'd be massive. Re-signing Guerra for 2016 perhaps cost us RTS and he gave us nothing. Maybe they've learned from that and decided that Napa's money should go to Mitchell and Manu who are genuine superstars that give us a massive edge over the entire competition out wide.
This post sums up the whole situation I reckon.
It's always nice to have room in the salary cap, and it may well have been in Napas best interests to secure this longer contract at the berries while its available.
The club has done the right thing for Napa..................and the young forwards on our books.

Is it just me or does he always sound like he's just got out of bed everytime he gets interviewed?

Napa’s existing contract he has been released from in my opinion was a season too long. I never liked the negotiation stale mate this time of year 3 years ago to the point I thought he held the club to ransom. He made no impact during his limited GF short minutes - I think Robbo was torn between Napa loyalty and giving Collins a GF start hence Robbo giving his ring to Collins. We are covered off on fans wanting someone with defence intimidation via Tetevano and More Beers Radley.

Dylan wants more game , perhaps he should get suspended less.

He’s never been a big minute player.
if anything he’d get even slower with more minutes

I find it a bit sad when the Roosters develop a player who go's onto being a rep player & winning GF leaves the club to play for another team. Anyway whats done is done but I would just like to thank him for the blood sweat & tears he gave to the Roosters.
I really hope the Roosters dont buy Taupau & bring on Collins & Faamausili.

Yep,i reckon hes just a bit lazy Axe, hes capable of playing good minutes and he performs really well in SOO and in occasional games like the one he played against the rabbit's.I reckon robbo could have easily gone with collins in the GF and im looking forward to watching collins go to a new level next year under the watchful eye of JWH who rates the kid, anyway good luck to napa but hes no huge loss IMO.

Very true Axe. The 2018 1st origin game he played 53 minutes.
The media point scoring on players performance for him I recall was a low 4 and the summary of, he couldn’t keep up with the pace of the game.
The 2nd match he played just over half the time of the first game and for the final game he didn’t play.
He can count his lucky stars Robbo gave him minutes in the GF.I have always considered him a bench player. He started his career as one and will finish it as a bench player.

All them durries he's been munchin...

Seriously though like any job, whadda you do when an employee comes up to you and says 'hey I just got offered a promotion elsewhere and I'm taking it'...
                        a) stand around saying they're not allowed to leave and must stay because there's a contract in place; or
                        b) suck it up, congratulate them, let them leave and focus on those who are staying.

IMO option b every day of the week. While I get that some people think players have a duty to be 'loyal', IMO it's a bit like telling your wife they can't separate from you becaue you're married, so there's a till death do us part contract in place. If she's just been porked by a guy twice your size who drives a Porsche and is gonna take her away to live in his Holllywood mansion then you can't just awkwardly sleep next to her every night and pretend she wants you. It's easiest to just break up and walk your separate ways.

IMO any true professional will choose their battles. Forcing a player to stay for 1 more year because he wants to leave and you don't wish to try to match the offer he's just accepted elsewhere is a battle that only a fool will take on.

Think Souffs and Brisbane!!! WTF?!?!? The two idiots are fighting over some old fart to the extend that it's gonna ruin both of their seasons. Why would you do it?!?!?

                        • After that Souths game when he owned the Burgeii a couple of seasons ago I thought that was going to be the springboard to domination on a weekly basis by the mad bloodnut.
It wasn’t to be however, though he still contributed when he wasn’t suspended.
He was certainly one that opposition players looked out for, and probably the only player I’ve seen James Graham change his running angle to avoid getting hit by.

Did we get his best years, or are they still to come?

The Tapau deal was always extremely unlikely, weve added around 1.4m with Crichton Morris and Hall and released Napa Fergo and Matto for 1.2 max. That's a 200 shortfall, add Tapau at 600-700 and we are 800=900 short.Granted the club stated we were 600 under but that still leaves us over. On top of this we have Keary Liu Mitchell Manu and Butcher starting new contract extensions that begin in 19,so all those guys are likely to be on more than they were this year. The numbers just never stacked up for us to be in the market for Tapau.

I don't think so. He basically ended up a bench player for us.
