I’m concerned that we will miss his size in the middle. He was our biggest body, and usually made his presence felt against opposition big men like the Burgii. While faster, more mobile forwards are definitely in vogue under the current interchange rules, there’s still room for one big body that can make an impact on both sides of the ball.

Sad to see Naps leave, but have no problem with him taking the money the Dogs would have offered him, which was more than we could afford. The Dogs had Klemmer's money to splash around.
I wish him all the best and he's goes on his way with a premiership ring, a well earned paid for holiday to the USA, and plenty of great memories. I doubt he'll achieve any of that with the Dogs.
I hope we develop from within or find a bargain buy. I don't see the need to spend decent/expensive coin on a bloke like Tapau.Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

It's always a shame to see someone who the club put so much time into let go. Including the 20's this year would have been his 9th year at the club. That's a significant chunk of time and there's a lot of fond memories in there, I used to love watch him and Evans dominate in the 20s.
When you drop the emotion from it though and look at it practically he is still only 26yrs old and we know he is a late bloomer, sure he is undiscplined but so was JWH at that age, even more so. I worry that the next 4yrs will be the best of his career.
Will be interesting to see how our pack shapes up next year. Most seem to think Lindsay Collins will be a straight swap... I wonder if there aren't plans to push Liu back into the front row and get more minutes for Radley at lock.

Napa is realistically more Kane Evans than JWH, promises a lot and sporadically delivers. We have plenty of players who can cover Napa's limited output with JWH, SST, Tetavano, Liu, Radley, Collins, Butcher, Faumasilli being middle third players....

I was never comparing their ability. You've taken that well out of context.

I mean...
- RTS earns more than $800k now.
- Watson earns more than $500k.
- Guerra earns $500k.
- SKD earns $500k.
- Fergo earns $600k.
- Napa earns $600k.
- Matto's probably on at least $400k.
- Pearce earns similar $$$ to Cronk.
- Nene probably makes a good $300k+ having been shopped.
- SOS probably makes about $300k.
- Evans would be on at least $300k.
With absolutely no offence intended towards these guys, keeping them around didn't make sense. If we had kept trm all on the basis that it's sad to see players go, our team would look like:
1. RTS
2. Nene
3. Fergo
4. SKD
5. Momirovski
6. Watson
7. Pearce
8. Napa
9. SOS
10. Evans
11. Vunakece
12. Guerra
13. FPN
If you keep a bunch of ordinary players whose heart isn't in then they blow out your cap and you can't afford to keep as many elite players. Thus, you end up looking like Parramatta because old mate couldn't stomach the idea of sacking his old mate.
Brian Smith taught Robbo 1 good skill - get rid of the fat ASAP, do not accept mediocre players. The quicker you dump them, the quicker you can sign guys like Tedesco and Cronk because you free up the $$$. Smith was great at sacking flogs who didn't care enough to put in for us... hence 2013. 2016-2018 Was a shake and repeat of 2011-2013. Punt the lazy fukkers, sign some top shelf players and push the up and coming stars (or players having form and/or disciplinary issues) hard enough to earn big bucks for their next contract.
No lost love. Betcha Napa loves us for releasing him at the right time and letting him earn $$$. Better than it dragging on, us missing opportunities and us being stuck with another 2009 where it's like fuuuukkk me... why did we keep all these flogs for so long?!?!? PUNT THEM... PLEASE!!!
