Easts know how to play the game, they play it hard and fair,
Easts know how to win the game, they win more than their share.
They’re great to see in action, these boys who show the way,
Put the Roosters on the field, they’ll show you how to play.

Here come the Roosters, the best we’ve ever seen,
The red, white and bluesters, the Eastern Suburbs team.
“Easts to win” shout the cry that everybody knows,
If you play this football game beware the Roosters crow.

I went to the 1st SFS game with my now departed dad and will attend tonite in the members amongst the blow ins of the great unwashed, petty crooks that follow the joke of the league. The hate displayed by them unlike any other sports fan I’ve ever witnessed.
      Easts to Win.

Rabbits will play more ‘footy’ than us and as a result get us.

I’m very nervous, confident but nervous.

No Latrell scares me but Cronk, Keary and Teddy can win this for us as long as our forwards step up.

Im expecting a big one from Manu and Radley, our youth to really spark us.

Same. My call is that if we win without Napa and Latrell then we can win a GF with them.

Like 2016 - being without a couple of stars is no excuse for scrappy organisation, laziness, poor reads and immature responses to pressure. Without them we shoukd still have good structures in place and good game management tactics.

Souffs will bash us up in the forwards and be looking to get Cook, GI and Gagai into holes (probably by doing a lot of surrender tackles that don't get spotted). This should not unsettle us if we stick to our plan and manage them out of the game.

          Souffs lack:
          - a proper FB and proper wingers
          - a 2nd half
          - 1st grade bench forwards

          Souffs have:
          - rep grade centres
          - one okay half
          - a lot of big starting forwards
          - a decent ball running hooker in his breakout season (bit like Hayne's 2009 - probably won't see much of old mate in a few years time)

We will decide the result. I hope we use that trump card properly...

If we’re within 8 with 30 to go I think we’ll come home with a wet sail.

I've mentioned it b4, but I agree that Chooks deserve to go in as favourites. 1 week off is massive & whilst no Mitchell & Napa evens it up, my heart says Bunnies but my head says Roosters.

Souths looked tired last week & the whole saga recently must have been a big distraction.

Second Prediction; Slater will get off the shoulder charge at the judiciary.

I hope I'm wrong on both of these.

Confident Rooster will win if they apply the following game plan for the first 30 mins to wear the Rabbits.

Important to start the game well
                      Simple running through the middle
                      High completion rate
                      High discipline

Rabbits will run out of energy in the second half due to there last couple of games.

                        Brawlers take...

To those who don't think Souffs don't have solid wingers and a decent 5/8th think again as Robbo is well aware Souffs are dangerous all over the park.

Robert Jennings is one big hombre, actually slightly bigger than Fergo and has scored 19 tries.

Campbell Graham was the captain of the Australian Schoolboys a couple of years ago and yes he is taller than Toops, the kid has some serious talent and is a footballer.

Cody Walker's side of the field has scored more tries than any other edge in the competition by the length of the straight and he is instrumental in most of them.

I think we should win but we need to complete above 80 percent, keep our clangers especially in the first half at a minimum as Souffs will grow in confidence and also limit their go forward, plus tackle everything that moves.

We have fresher legs but lets not forget we blew if last year with a slightly weaker team but against a lot weaker opposition. I suspect Jared will want to right the wrongs of that fateful night and this will go a long way towards a Roosters victory, that and Keary was ill that night and I predict he will have a blinder in front of Rusty....

                        Easts to Win.......

Robbo looked happy and confident in the interview. Then again he looked confident in last years preliminary final interview. They say it was our best training sesion of the year. I seem to remember that about a year ago. We have to win because we're playing a tired beat up opponent. Sounds a bit like the Cowboys 2017.

Not writing this to be negative. Just how the only thing that counts is the actual game. And this is where the disappointment of last year will help motivate our men. We made moves to address that loss as soon as the dust settled. Now we see how effective those moves have been. But I have to say I like what I see.

We did not scrape home in games on the back of Gordon's trusty boot. Our defense is better and our attack more demanding. We have cut down on the get the opponent out of jail penalties that prevented us building any pressure. Apart from the dummy half forward passes and a few clunkers at the back, we have stopped giving possession away. We can kick 40/20's and our kicks are never way out on the full or failing to find touch from a penalty. We don't kick off from a restart out on the full.

So it's a lot different that our Cowboy days. We are mentally much tougher and more disciplined and that will be the difference.
