If Manu and Fergo hold their defensive line, and tupou no loose carries, in other words we dont gift the opposition all their points through the same mistakes, then the Hobbits are there for the taking.

Especially when their B team Sharon comes on.

The Sharks form line over the last 5 weeks has been..

      Manly at home - loss
      Melbourne away - won
      Cowboys at home - won
      Knights at home - won
      Bulldogs at ANZ - won

Based on those performances the media and so called experts have jumped all over them, apart from the Melbourne game the last 3 wins have been a walk in the park..

We are a different animal on the defensive end, watch us put them in their place this Saturday!

I’m very glad we got this far and even won the minor premiership. Just hoping that the tables will turn after 3 consecutive failures but not expecting us to get through because of unforced errors. You can’t give away so much possession and win finals and in our final losses a lot of dumb errors by coach and players got us eliminated.

lets hope they learn from the last finals. But to put it frankly we can’t win a premiership with our current 14 errors per game and poor completion rate so I’m preparing for early elimination unless we do a 360 turnaround.

Stop Press...Gus just declared the Sharks as certainties this weekend.

Now, I'm more confident we'll win.

If we have truly learned our lesson from last year we will go well. Our backline is the best in the competition, our forwards just have to hold the middle and the rest is luck and referrees. This backline reminds me so much of Canberra 1989 in the backs. They hit form in the second round and had enough brilliance to pull off last minute wins or blitz the opposition. Souths with their lumbering but huge pack and tricky Cook (Elias) as hooker could be our 1989 Balmain too. I would post this as a thread on its own, but I don't know how to start a thread. But here's the match ups.

Tedesco = Belcher. Both brilliant free running fullbacks, elusive and bob up all over the field.
Ferguson = Ferguson. John also played for the Roosters and Blake also played for Canberra. Both match winners with unpredictable plays and just know how and where to run the ball.
Mitchell = Meninga. Freight trains with speed to match. I rate Mitchell as the more skillful - just has to get more involved. Both the team goalkickers.
Manu = Daley. Seems like a big call, but similar at this stage of their careers, Daley was still raw but with that great step and determination. Manu can also pull something out of nothing.
Tupou = Wood Only mismatch here but both great finishers and both the lesser stars of the backline. Tupou greater skills, but Wood a safer player.
Keary = O'Sullivan Small five eighths who can kick and run well. Keary probably a little faster across the ground and both had reliable defence.
Cronk = Stuart. Organising halves with pin point kicking games, great hands and strong defensive organizing. Cronk will probably move into coaching like Ricky too.

Let's see if the media pick up on the similarities. And let's hope the same result.

All i feel is nervousness that will run for a month - same every time we get into the finals.

Still are short of our best football.

                        Find it and we win

If so I respectfully disagree, the Sharks strength are their forwards and their control of the ruck with niggling tactics all game..

If you compare our backline to theirs it’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Toyota,we would own them in the backs!
No im talking about Easts having more attack power not Cronulla Lol. Sorry should've made myself clearer.

Good post Louis...some interesting similarities as you say.

i always rated Chicka the best winger Ive seen. Blakes a big body with surprisingly great agility and his shove this year has been incredible.

Ricky had brilliant hands and plenty of mongrel unlike Cooper...but Coops is his own self made elite player.
