My opinion is if Manly introduced stupid no-drinking rules, or pandered to the media sensationalism by severely punishing or sacking players each time they played up then Manly would be at the bottom of the ladder along with the Roosters.
That's about it.
And Manly is at the 'top' of the ladder...which is what the business is all about.

[QUOTE=theGman;148092]Leila is a long time Roosters supporter. She features regularly on the NRL website.
It's an interesting read for those interested. Leila makes good sense.
Roosters can't save Carney
Of course, a football club is more than just a business, and I have no doubt that the chairman, the board members, and many of the players will always help support Carney no matter what lies ahead.
>>>>> >>>>> >>>>>
What lies ahead of course is 'nothing', as the NRL has now changed its mind and virtually said he's banned from joining another club.
And what of the rest of their teammates? Everyone on that team made a pact not to drink for two weeks. Captain Braith Anasta thought it might help them prepare for their next two games. If Nu'uausala and Myles didn't agree they should have said so at the time. Instead they treated their captain and their fellow players with disdain.
>>>>> >>>>> >>>>>
Yeah right, just imagine telling Smith, Anasta and the 'love, trust and respect each other' lot you didn't agree with the ban.
It would have been a breach of trust if they had snuck a quiet drink at home. What's worse, they went to the Golden Sheaf in Double Bay and the Courthouse Hotel in Darlinghurst - two of the most prominent pubs in the Eastern Suburbs.
>>>>> >>>>> >>>>>
Players should be able to drink alcohol, drinking alcohol is legal in society.
They shouldn't have to be sneaking around home or society when socialising and having a drink.
That Nate Myles is leaving this year and joining the Titans makes no difference to me. For his own pride he should still be giving the Roosters 100 per cent.
>>>>> >>>>> >>>>>
Now why would he want to go doing that, he had a year to run on his contract and the club told him he wasn't wanted...a broken promise?
The club demands 'undying loyalty' from the players, yet sacks them and moves on players who have contracts as it pleases.
As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Everyone with an interest in NRL knows about his struggles with alcohol. Maybe his drinking buddies just don't appreciate the seriousness of the situation. Maybe they don't care about him.
>>>>> >>>>> >>>>>
Obviously not.

I wonder if they're waiting for another reason...
If Carney's gonna go, he'll probably reveal all. 8 People allegedly went out drinking that night, and if Carney was allowed to name and shame them this week, we'd likely have half of our team suspended.
Off-season they can all be named and shamed... THEN they can decide whether Carney has to go.

I'll read it, but it'll only be good sense if she's saying we should keep Carney and manage him.

Yes but can Carney save the Roosters?
That is the question.

The club is a business...lovely...and not a daycare centre for 'failed' players.
Carney is bad so he has to go...despite having a contract for next year.
The same rule should be applied to coaches.

I used to think he could save us.
He proved this year he destroyed us. We carried that little cry baby for at least 12 games. For 12 Games we had 12 men on the field and for 12 games that little baby did nothing but sulk and look lost. In hindsight, if we didnt have to wipe the little cry baby's arse for him, we'd be top 4 now and aiming to go one better than last year.
Its time he and you both grew up.Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

Methinks thee is dreaming.
We were refereed out of most games we played....either by incompetence or unintentional bias.
Also, our players were basically mistake makers and disorganised for most of the year.
