Too bad though, being unemployed and trying to start up a new job as a personal trainer with classes on the beach or surrounds/in parks, he'll have to pay money for the privilege.

Was it fair to select an injured Carney this year?

      In happier times.

      Sad it's going to end.

No mention of the 5 others who 'betrayed the trust' of their fellow playing group members.
      Wonder who they are?

Forward thinker: Anasta happy to extend career at the Roosters in pack

SYDNEY ROOSTERS captain Braith Anasta is confident of finalising a new deal to remain at the club and insists he is happy to play in the second row this season.

With star playmaker Todd Carney sidelined by a groin injury until the season-opening clash with South Sydney on March 11, Roosters coach Brian Smith has opted to give rookie Mark Kheirallah the No.6 jersey for Saturday night's Foundation Cup clash with Wests Tigers at the SFS rather than play Anasta at five-eighth.

But after admitting towards the end of last season that he was struggling to come to terms with the move into the forwards, Anasta said he was now comfortable wearing the No.11 jersey.

''I'm playing the same as I was last year. My role hasn't changed, only the number has changed,'' Anasta said. ''I think the sooner everyone gets used to me in that number the better.''

      Well there you go.

So tell me again why we're waving Carney farewell?

I read all three of those articles, wasting about 20 minutes of my life, and I'm convinced of two things.

        1. Gould has been hit in the head one too many times.

        2. We're going to be stuck with Anasta in the 6 until he retires.

Going on his workload and general lack of involvement he'll be playing until he's 40.

This is going to be a dark couple of years.

Because we carried him for 12 weeks. He was fit enough because he was picked. He trained well. He just waited for game day to get the shakes.

He ****ed us up. Dont get me wrong, I still believe he's a super talent. But the club doesnt need him to bring us down once more. You cannot deny, Carney created a world of uncertainty and disappointment that rubbed off on the players. You could see he was a liability. One too many chances. See ya.

I cant see how the club could justify keeping him. And there's nothing you can say BB that csan justify it either so please stop wasting A) your breath and B) our time.

No-one has ever disputed that Carney is a better 5/8 than Anasta. But he is only a better 5/8 when he has his head and heart in it. This year he has been nothing but a passenger. Yes he was injured at the start but he recovered enough to even resume goalkicking duties. Carney cost us more games this year than he won. His defence has been abysmal and he just didn't seem interested. If he was truly serious about getting his form back and playing for the roosters and loving the club and wanting to extend his contract etc etc, he would not have gone out drinking till 2 in the morning WHETHER THERE WAS A DRINKING BAN OR NOT!! I'm shattered to see the dream die too, but watching what has happened to our club this year with all the drama, disharmony and anguish Carney has caused, makes me realise he has to go. I've supported this team for 34 years and have only seen us win 1 premiership out of 6. And every loss has hurt hard especially the first one in 1980 when I was just a kid. But I'd rather this team play with heart and respect for the jersey and give their all than rely on someone who may be brilliant but is destroying the club from within as a result of his unfortunate personality.

I safely presume you remember 2009 - I am convinced that if NosferBentu hadn't taken Twink's money and disrupted the scum we'd be sitting in the Wooden Spoon spot. Carney made us look good last year and Smith knows that. But in the name of team "harmony" Captain DogTat gets his way.

I remember 2009, much worse than 2011. I also remember we had some bad eggs in the club who are no longer with us....Sa, Mason are a couple of names that spring readily to mind. I can also remember all the games Carney has played this season, how ineffective he has been, disinterested, couldn't give a rats. Basically, he was out on the field but he wasn't. So, why would next season be any different with him at the club. He now knows how much he can get away with, he's shown he doesn't care about rules or team harmony, only himself. So why would 2012 be any better than 2009 if carney was at 6 insetad of Anasta. At least at the back end of the season we have had 17 players out on the field putting in an effort. I know fans want wins, so do I, but I can support a team thats having a real dig, but not one that doesn't care. Carney drops into the latter in my opinion.

It's a big gamble if you ask me, getting rid of a fit Carney when we're down the bottom of the ladder and the playing roster will be same next year with a couple of rookies added and the same coach.
SKD now has a groin injury.

I hope for the stubborn management, stubborn coach and stubborn captain's sake their gamble pays off.

Because if it doesn't the fans will be storming the 'Bastille' and demanding that heads roll.

Carney was physically fit for half the season and still played crap. And that is because mentally he's not fit and is not likely to be for extended periods during his life, let along his career. We got lucky in 2010 where he lasted 10 months. I doubt we'll be that lucky again.

Carney is an individual that will spend his whole life looking for excuses for his failures. And unfortunately there will always be people like you gullible enough to believe every word of drivel he speaks and writes but has no intention of following through on.

Just been talking to someone in the know.
Apparently the club would love to keep Carney because of all the time, effort & money.
The board members have had enough though, & feel that it is time to move him on. NP still wants to give him another go.
Therefore the other board members are virtually asking NP to step aside on any decision making on this one.

Just how far is NP willing to push the issue?
                              Hmmmmmm

If he's got any sense he'll do what forumite Artie's Pie suggested, and keep him as insurance, just in case plan A fails.

He's the one who's gonna get the blame if Plan A fails...look at the badmouthing of him here already.

                                Wisdom is all about compromise.

Play him in Newtown, pay him his contract money, get him some new friends, encourage him, coach him...what is there to lose?
If it doesn't work out, just drop him off the Newtwon list and no one will hardly notice.

If though Plan A fails he will have another option...and if this option works he'll be looking like King Solomon.
