  • I still remember that year that Slippery Morris (near the end of his career) and Joe Lydon tore it up on the wings for us, so the Brett Morris signing does have a feel-good factor in it for me, a la Brett Mullins.....

Hall looks good, and hopefully it’s not too late in his career to make the transition to the NRL.

Depth is not a bad thing if the money adds up.....

But, sure, having one of the new guys playing reserve grade is an option.
Be interesting to know the rationale. Neither are anywhere near Fergos height... he is also a really special athletic specimen.

Last time we recruited too many wingers it unfortunately didnt go so well for us.

The Reece experiment didn't cut it, so I'm thinking that Morris replaces him possibly on similar money, or not much more. Not sure whether there is any back-ending attached here or his contract at the Bulldogs is up? Hall for Ferguson makes sense as we need a big body taking it up and Hall seems fairly indestructible.
Hopefully it all works out for us

Depth and experience in a position where we lacked both.
I would not be comfortable signing Fergo to a 3 year deal because that would make him comfortable.

          • He is a rooster now so I'll support him. That's next year and we have got a got the makings of a good team and ready to have a red hot crack this year. Go Easts

            • I think Hall and Morris are both great signings for us. Both consummate professionals who have stood the test of time at the top level, and still have a lot to offer Will set a great example for any of our younger players.

              • First Hall and now this.

Hartigan is no O’Sullivan, that’s for sure.

Hall is no midget ... he's 188cm and 105kg. He won't be as good in the air as Fergo, but he'll do the tough runs just as well, can score the bullocking tries from close range, and is less likely to drop the pill on the first tackle in our own 20.

Yeah well... imagine if we won the comp this year!!! Massive chance of going back to back.

                    • Some people are hard to please - earlier this year most of you were whinging because we were skinny in the backs - we add some depth and now some are whinging because someone may miss out.

I suspect that both Hall and BMoz have been signed for around the same money we would have had to pay to keep Ferguson alone - which means 2 for the price of one and no off-field ticking time bomb to boot. Win, win as far as I am concerned.

                      • And every chance not all five of them will be available for every match. Already this season Toops has missed near a dozen, Teddy missed two, Latrell missed two and Joey missed one. (Or something close to that.)

Agree Eddie. It's hardly coincidental that Fergo's form excelled in a contract year. An improvement curve that seems to recur among many NRL 'professionals'.

Agree here as they are good signings that bring alot of experience, you can't have a team full of players on huge money but as Novice says if we got the two for near what we would have payed for one then that's good business.

Hope you're not watching the Dogs V Tigers match being played now.
Morris just did a huge stuff up and fumbled the ball. Kicked it backwards, tried to catch it, and knocked it on.
                                Sheesh!

The Pensters here who hated SKD for his stuff ups would've given it a 9 out of 10.
