Interesting to see how this plays out next year, but depth is a good thing.

Now we've got next year sorted, we can concentrate on doing the business this year.
    Quirky point there Zacariah.

My only tenet with signing these two old buggers is that it is they who will compete for the position vacated by Fergo.

Joey and Toups should continue as is, unaffected.

Nathan Brown rates Ryan Hall the best winger he's seen.

        Should, but that's impossible now.

As previously mentioned Brett’s experience with the young backs coming through will be invaluable, ala Cooper Cronk..

Also his knack of finding the tryline and defensive smarts will only be a positive for the Club!
Too bad Lam and SOS might not be around.

          No Lam.
          No SOS.
          No Pearce.
          No Fergo.
          No Cronk.
No Toops. [it should be Toops teaching Morris]

"Oh, Mr Hart, what a mess!"

            Impossible?

Are you saying they're both gonna sulk because there's more competition for positions?

Lets have no depth and pray for injury free seasons

He coaches the knights so I can see why he has such admiration.

              • So, Toops and Joey will have to trudge up to Wyong to play?
Like they'll stick around to do that.
First-pick first graders at any other club.

Wouldn't surprise me if Toops were to see if Parra has any money left to pay him the same as Fergo.

Not sulk...but it will never be the same.
One minute you think the Roosters love you and you are their future, then this.

Know who'll be despatched to Wyong, and it won't be Hall or Morris.

Brett Morris joins the Roosters on two-year deal

The Sydney Roosters have signed Brett Morris to a two-year NRL deal, further strengthening their backline for next year.

After last week announcing the signature of powerful English winger Ryan Hall, the Tricolours on Wednesday confirmed former NSW and Australian flyer Morris had signed with the club from next season.

It means coach Trent Robinson will boast one of the competition's strongest backlines next year, with Latrell Mitchell, James Tedesco, Joseph Manu and Daniel Tupou competing for just five spots.

Hall and Morris will compete for the wing position vacated by Parramatta-bound Blake Ferguson.

It caps an impressive signing spree by the Roosters, who also added NSW back-rower Angus Crichton to their books for next year.

Morris was not offered a new deal by Canterbury because of the club's salary cap problems.

Twin brother Josh has already committed to Cronulla next year.

Brett, 31, has played 231 NRL games for St George Illawarra - including their 2010 grand final win - and the Bulldogs, as well as playing 18 Tests for Australia and making 15 State of Origin appearances for NSW.

"Brett is one of the most experienced finishers in the game with plenty of good football still in him and we are pleased to have secured his services," Roosters recruitment manager Adam Hartigan said.

"Not only will Brett add experience and depth to our squad, he will also be a terrific mentor to some of the younger backs here at the club."

Personally I would have signed Fergo for 3 years. The club didn't, fair enough, now we've got 2 potentially very good players for hopefully not too much. I think Toops should be guaranteed left wing - he's done enough and is younger than the other guys. As far as Joey goes, I'm reserving my position until the end of the year. But, sure, having one of the new guys playing reserve grade is an option.

He was definitely the best of the Super League and went very well against the Australian Test team. I've seen him in quite a few games over the years and would have much preferred him to Burgess, as Hall was better suited to the Australian game. I wish we would have signed him a few years back though as he's getting on. I did see a vid of him playing recently where he showed he still has pace. I hope he succeeds. People are death riding this guy already who know absolutely nothing about him.

I think most people are happy to give Hall a go and see how he goes Louis , the puzzle is signing Morris. If they have both been signed around the 300k mark it means we are going to have a very expensive depth signing who won't be happy not getting a start. This signing will only look more ridiculous if o'sullivan leaves for the broncos and some of that money wasn't used in retaining him.

If O’sullivan Is indeed released then it tells me the Club doesn’t rate him enough to become a future star halfback!

No way our Club would lose a future star halfback with no other options on the horizon, just won’t happen!

Yes I take your point Johnny. Morris was also injury prone with chronic hamstring troubles and I can only imagine it's to add experience to the roster and help out with the younger guys. Plus he covers a few positions.

The Reece experiment didn't cut it, so I'm thinking that Morris replaces him possibly on similar money, or not much more. Not sure whether there is any back-ending attached here or his contract at the Bulldogs is up? Hall for Ferguson makes sense as we need a big body taking it up and Hall seems fairly indestructible.
