  • Cronk thinking of retiring at the end of the season

According to the Mole. Just had a look at the off contract halves available for next season and the pickings are pretty slim I can tell you!

Do it. Keary 7 Radley 6.

No reason why Radley couldn’t be a Freddy style no 6. I don’t know if he has much of a kicking game but I wouldn’t be surprised if he does, he has everything else.

Thought this would happen.. Just throw osully in and ride with it until the next move

I take what the Mole reports with a grain of salt. He gets more wrong than right.

Do what inglis did early on and chuck latrell in the halves, see what havoc he can cause

He was thinking of retiring at the end of last season so it has to be a possibility. Unless we get a like for like replacement I hope he doesn't. He's been good so far and here's hoping he can do even better things in the semis.

The Mole is unreliable - and has his own agendas - so I'm not convinced.

If we win the comp this year, he can do what he wants ...

The Mole is the most accurate gosspi columnist around Rugby League and has a soft spot for our club.

I've never understood the criticism of him.

Like all rumours it should be treated as just that a rumour but he's far more credible than people are making out in this thread.

Agree he is one of the better ones but still throws quite a few darts.

I posted about 6 weeks ago I wouldn't be surprised if Cronk retired after this year, he has lost a step this year.

I was at the Captain's run last Thursday and Radley looked pretty skillful with his kicking. In fact he looked better than Keary who was kicking with him.

There you go. If Radley could work in the halves it would solve a bunch of problems. It would free up a million bucks of Cronk money to spend on retaining fergo and/or increasing depth in the forwards and outside backs rather than having to recruit another half.

Keary isn't really an organizer, he too is a better running 5/8 so there lies the problem. 2 guys in the halves who aren't organizers.

Radley would only ever be a fill-in stop gap measure in the halves. His talents are better utilised elsewhere.

It might be a case of Lam and O'Sullivan duelling for the position in the trials next season. Of the players off contract, Blake Austin was probably the highest profile player but not sure he would be a good fit with Keary. The other options included the likes of Ryley Jacks, Kane Elgey, Brock Lamb and Matt Frawley. None really inspire confidence.
